Police have arrested the man who called into a Auburn radio show claiming to have poisoned the tree's in Auburn's famed Toomer's Corner.

He could get upto 10 years in jail.

What's most disappointing about this story is that the man arrested is 62 years old. You'd think a person that age would have a little more perspective about collegiate athletics. My god. And watching that video, you can see how it's impacted Auburn officials. It's just a terrible, senseless act.

That's college football in the south for you.  These people are insane!

And Alabama is the person whom everyone else in the looney bin refers to as "crazy."

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

GGGG

Didn't he say it was in revenge for them "decorating" the tree when bear bryant died?  30 years ago?

TallTitan34

That was his justification, which many people on both sides say never happened.

I wanna see if the Bama backers come to his aid....legally speaking and financially speaking.

Now THAT would be hardcore...

You should read the message boards at Alabama on this topic.  Some sane people and certainly a share of folks where the rivalry is so heated, they're selling t-shirts to free this guy.  Crazy stuff....passionate folks but crazy.

My favorite...from the phone interview on the radio.. "Roll Damn Tide!"

I heard it was because he was mad about them 'cheating' to get cam.

TallTitan34

He did say he was also mad that Auburn put a "Scam Newton" jersey on a Bear Bryant statue.

Roll Damn Tide!
