Does this team foul more on the road?

I hate blaming the refs so I will blame the team.  They seem to foul a lot more on the road (e.g., Notre Dame and Villanova).  IMO both those games were lost on the foul line.  Can anyone explain why this would be the case?

There is a reason that teams have great home records and terrible road records.  Playing in a hostile environment is the hardest thing to do in sports.  Guys get nervous, tighten up, etc.  Stupid fouls, over trying, worse shooting %, on and on and on....  Plain and simple.  Then when you try harder with more nervous energy you commit stupid fouls, take bad shots, shoot air balls that sail over the rim by 16", etc. etc. etc.

The team that plays with the most energy, enthusiam and urgency is usually a split second quicker - to the ball, to the rim or to the desired spot on the floor - and usually that's the home team. And  it's just easier for the refs to blow the whistle against the visitors.

I don't care if it's home or on the road, I just wish MU would stop committing dumb fouls.  That "MU bump" at the top of the key never accomplishes anything except getting a foul on a guy like Crowder or Otule when they can't afford to be off the floor.

There was an article in a fairly recent SI issue talking about home court advantage.  It was an excerpt from a just-released book called "Scorecasting" (which should arrive at my house today or tomorrow).  

The bottom line from the article is that home court advantages result because home teams get more calls, and that's pretty much the only reason.

not true.  It also accomplishes having our biggest players defending outside the arc and then scrambling to get back into position defensively.

What do you suggest then?  It's a tuff situation to defend.  If the big man doesnt come out and hedge the pick then a good shooting guard coming off the screen will make you pay all night long with drives, jumpers, and finding the open man.

sarcastic response - You're right.  Those hedges are the key to our outstanding defense.
