Sorry, but there is no comparison.  UCONN gets solid production out of 3 guys and MU gets nothing out of anyone.

How on earth was Vander Blue a top 50 guy?

Blue is a comlete stiff offensively. Way overated coming in.

Because everyone thought he was.   Because he started and played very well on the U-18 team as a defensive stopper and glue guy.   Who knew that the BEast had bigger stronger 21-22 year olds than other countries U-18 teams?    His J need work.    Some great coach once said that the best thing about a freshman is that they become sophomores.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

This was one of my fears coming into the season. Too many people expected Vander to walk onto campus and be an elite college player. The fact of the matter is that he's a very talented kid who is only going to get better. He is a freshman, after all. Yes, he needs to work on his jumper. You know who else needs to work on their jumpers? An overwhelming majority of college freshman.

Just because MU got lit up by some other team's freshman, that doesn't mean Vander is a bust.

Coming into the game last night...

Lamb: 8.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists and shooting 46.2% from the floor in 21.3 minutes per.

Blue: 8.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and shooting 48.0% from the floor in 23.9 minutes per.

Clearly Lamb is in a different league than Blue.  ::)

Pow! Take that! To take it even a step further, Vander Blue also does not play along side Kemba Walker. I think MU did a pretty nice job on Walker last night which obviously opened things up for guys like Lamb (personally, I would take the opposite approach and let Walker have his and make the rest of the team beat me). Who is it on MU exactly that attracts that kind of defensive attention and open up opportunities for Vander Blue?

GGGG

Thanks MM. People should maybe base their research on more than one game.

It's way too early to give up on Vander, but you have to be concerned with the two (touted) classes Buzz has brought in. Otule will likely never improve due to his eye condition, and the ship has sailed on Erik Williams. Devonte can't get up and down the floor more than once without getting winded, Junior can't shoot anything outside of a layup and Jamail apparently is so bad defensively he may never seen the court in anything but a blowout. That's what concerns me -- whether these players will ever contribute while other schools are bringing in players who play well right off the bat. Add that to a coach who is still learning how to coach and you get NIT bids.

You think a "Uconn1965" was calling Lamb a bust after these games?

No, because he hadn't heard of him until last night.

Definitely time to give up on the guy! Get a friggin' grip.

the problem is that VB got his points against our very weak non-conference schedule.  Other than De Paul, what is his average against BEAST?  Toooo many games w/ 000000 line.

Stretchdeltsig

Where is our coaching????  It seems that Marquette's talented recruits are not developing like they should.  Look at Blue, Williams, Jones, Cadugan.  It seems they are not getting well coached.  If they were they should play more to keep everyone fresh.  It seems that our coaching is not getting the job done during games and during practice this year.  Buzz said in his show before the game that he doesn't like being told what to do about play calling.  Hey, Buzz, why would you play Cadugan and Blue when we need to score????

+1. The fact that williams can't even get off the bench as a soph should tell us he will never be a decent contributor next season.

I understand, but I guess we'll find out in a few more weeks, won't we? So it sounds to me like you are declaring him a bust on January 26th then. Good for you.

79 Warrior is right. How did E. Williams ever get rated? As I wrote before he must have lots of blisters. You'd think by now he would be an average contributor. Still think there is hope for Jones. Gardner iffy.

Whose minutes would you like for EWill to be taking? Butler's or Crowder's?

Earl Tatum

Merritts----- Butler or Crowder could spelled for at least 5 or 6 minutes between them. But E-Will. can't even do that effectively.

Those minutes are taken by Fulce, a 3 guard line-up and possibly Outle/Gardner.  Of these who would you take minutes away from?
