jeez. maybe i dont understand enough about the culture down there, but i can't believe that there are enough people to watch a 24 hour network based on ONE university that will keep it financially viable.

Doesn't matter, ESPN is fronting the money which means the MSO's (Dish Network, Comcast, Directv, Charter, Time Warner) will have their rates raised again by ESPN which in turn means that you, the customer, will pay more to pay for this channel.

ESPN is about to pay the NFL $1.8 to $1.9 billion PER YEAR for their Monday Night Football rights...the customer will be paying for that ultimately as well.

If I remember correctly, the reason why is because the Big 12 promised Texas that they would get their own TV network, which would increase Texas' revenue by at least 10+ million.

My Aggie friend with connections tells me that this gives A&M the cover it needs to bolt to the SEC if they so desire.

I lived in texas DFW for a while.  They will have plenty of eyeballs.  This is why Texas NEVER had any real interest in the Big Ten.  It was just to get leverage for their own network.  They have been talking about this for a while down there.

You surely said this knowing 25 million people live "down there" in Texas, and that UT is the dominant university in the big 12;number one in Texas.

The TV markets and advertising revenue potential far exceed ND, and compare favorably with all other team/league channels already established. Financial viability and UT are synonymous. By gross $ and football profitability its no.1, as a stand alone program, in USA.
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.
