I feel like MU has the market corned on Soul Crushing Losses.

While most marked this as a loss at the beginning of the season, and maybe at the start of the game, MU found a way to give us hope, only have it crushed into a fine powder.

FSU last year, MU up double digits late, loses in the last 3 minutes.
DePaul, MU up all game, loses in last minute.
ND last year, up all game, ND ties it, wins in OT on our home court.
Washington, open up a 15 point lead with 13 to go.. lose in last minute.

And today's loss vs. UL.  A new category of soul crushing loss.

Are there other games I'm missing from season's past?

Gaines, Smith, Garcia games.

WVU last year. Had the game won and couldn't ice it at the line.

Missouri was bad.

Stanford is still the worst for me.

Along those lines, I'd add the SLU and WMU games from 05.

Not "close loss" soul crushing, more like "there's no hope" soul crushing.

Here's what I'm coming in at top ten wise the last four years

Georgetown in 08 (Senior Day OT loss)
Stanford in 08
Syracuse in 09 (Senior Day OT loss)
Villanova in 09 Big East Tourney
Missouri in 09
FSU in 10
WVU in 10
Notre Dame in 10 (Senior Day OT loss)
Washington in 10
Louisville today

While each is monumentally soul-crushing, today's instantly vaults up to the top 3. I got

1. Georgetown in 08
2. Villanova in BET in 09
3. Today

I've got a head crushing hangover and then I've got to sit through that 10:00 am game.  sick

Seriously, I can't remember a loss aggravating me this much. Much worse than that GTown game or the Villanova game in the BET. In the grand scheme of things, those meant nothing. This one does/will. With the way Louisville looked today, I expect us to be in the running for a big right along side them. I win over them would have been absolutely mammoth. Now, if it's between the two of us, you have to give the nod to the Cardinals.

I'm not going to name names, but I will say our point guard play in the last 4 or 5 minutes was about as bad as it's been since Marcus Jackson took the helm. Awful decision making by more than one player.

I'd add both of the nova games from last year in the regular season.

Never understood reliving all the gutwrenching losses on the heels of a gutwrenching loss.  I guess I'm not a masochist,

Amen, Stanford was the worst, hands down.

I thought that was a prerequisite for MU fans.

Agree. We've had many games we could have won and a few games we should have won that have ended in losses. Each of them hurt. But this game was essentially over, a road conference win against a ranked opponent. We made some very bad decisions, Knowles made 4 straight 3s and a crappy free throw shooter make 4 in a row. Horrible "perfect storm" ending. Devastating.

The MU-Louisville series is like a Peanuts comic strip.  When is it our turn to be Lucy instead of Charlie Brown?

Not even close.  Loss to Miami of Ohio in the 1978 NCAA tourney they year after we won it all.
