I was wondering what Big East teams scoopers hated the most and why?  Mine in order are.....

1) Notre Dame - Arrogant fans, Brey's mock turtle neck
2) Pittsburgh - 90% a-holes
3) Louisville - Pitino
4) Connecticut - Calhoun is a miserable bastard
5) West Virginia - Huggins
6) Cincinnati - Thugs
7) Syracuse - Hated Devondorf and McNamara.  Dislike when Boeheim complains about tournaments.  Now mad we haven't beat them.
8) Seton Hall - Dropped now that Gonzo is gone
9) DePaul - Natural rival, hate would increase if they were better
10) Rutgers -  Neutral
11) South Florida - Neutral
12) St. John's - Neutral
13) Providence - Neutral
14) Georgetown - I like Georgetown
15) Villanova - I like Villanova

For me this discussion really starts and ends with Louisville.  Can't stand the arrogant fans, the gutwrenching losses at the BC over the past decade (I'm looking at you Francisco Garcia and Reece Gaines), the worst conference loss I've ever seen by MU, and the fact that calling Rick Pitino a slime ball is an insult to actual balls of slime.

I would agree with your list except Gtown has to be a lot higher.....they're fans are very arrogant and talk a lot of smack. Go to their board before or after a MU/GU game and you won't find many Hoya fans too complimentary of MU. I like how you got Pitt #2 because I don't think most people would've had them that high, but I would for sure like you. Jamie Dixon seems like a real good guy and obviously a great coach, but Pitt fans are just plain a$$ holes to put it kindly. I think Pitt fans dislike for MU stems a lot from that '03 loss they had to MU in the Sweet 16 as that was a really good Pitt team. Plus, Crean had a lot of success against them. I would say I hate losing to Pitt just as much as ND actually. And Nova is my favoritre team as well - love Jay Wright and they just seem real easy to root for as they're a lot like MU too.

Lville, ND, cuse after that its a crapshoot

#4
1) Notre Dame - Gingers
2) Louisville - A good hate though.
3) West Virginia - Pittsnoggle
4) Pittsburgh - Carl Krauser
5) Cincinnati - Another good hate
6) Syracuse - Hated Boeheim in Blue Chips, zone defense.
7) DePaul - All State Arena
8) Georgetown - I hate them because they are always overrated.
9) Connecticut -Little bit of hate
10) Rutgers -  New Jersey
11) South Florida - Neutral
12) St. John's - Neutral
13) Seton Hall - Neutral
14) Providence - I like Providence
15) Villanova - I like Villanova
16) TCU - HORNED FROGS!

Cooby Snacks

Hate: Notre Dame and Louisville
Vague dislike: Syracuse, West Virginia (don't mind Huggins as much as I used to), UConn, Cincy (residual from when they were good)
Mocking disdain: DePaul
Don't care: Rutgers, Seton Hall, Providence, South Florida
Don't mind: Villanova, St. John's and Pitt...for the first couple years in the Big East, I felt like Pitt would take the place of Cincy as our "thug" rivals.  I enjoy watching them now, and Jamie Dixon is a good coach/person.
Like: Georgetown

DrDestiny911

1) Connecticut - Inexplicable, and uncontrollable hate
2) Louisville - Pitino=slime ball.
3) Syracuse- Love to hate them: 'Melo, Devendorf, they're unwarranted hatred of MU
4) Notre Dame - Harangody and Hansborough, and the fact that they're ND
5) West Virginia - Bob "don't give him a" Huggins
6) Cincinnati - They're 14-0 start was a mirage that the "experts" were starting to buy
7) Villanova - Seem to always be the only team that convincingly beats MU, good hate though
8) DePaul - How did we lose that game last year? HOW!!
9) Providence - Why'd that dude try and fight our players again? It's Rhode Island for God's sakes
10) Georgetown - Always over-rated but still we seem to always beat 'em.
11) Pittsburgh - Would be neutral if they weren't so darn fundamentally good.
12) Rutgers -  Gotta agree NJ is terrible
13) St. John's - Neutral
14) Seton Hall - I like Seton Hall, reminds me of a crappier MU in a way
15) South Florida - Kept the BE legit in football for a couple years
16) TCU - Do they count yet?

bilsu

Louisville and it is not even close.

mu_hilltopper

Since Huggins left Cincy, why the hate for Cincy?

1) Syracuse (easily) - Any program that condones violence against women deserves to rot in hell.

T-2) Louisville, UCONN & ND.  The first two because their coaches are scum.  ND... well, because their ND, and you should already know by now why that makes them great.

5) West Virginia - Last year I would have had them in the above group, but Huggie Bear impressed me just enough when DeSean went down in the national semi-final that he no longer deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Pitino and Calhoun.  I still dislike WV because I hate hippies and hillbillies bother me (either of which may be found within fifteen feet of you no matter where you happen to be in Morgantown).

T-6) Pitt & Cincy only because of the painful losses.  Cincy has the edge IMO since at least we beat Pitt in Mpls '03.

8) Georgetown - The unfortunate scapegoat for that stupid foul by Dominic James.

T-9) Rutgers & Seton Hall because it's New Jersey.  It's New Jersey.

11) Providence because if the Big East ever contracts, they'll be safe no matter what.

T- 12) St. Johns, Nova, South Florida - Honestly... what is there to dislike here.

15) DePaul - This would be like hating your neighbor who was displaced from his home because of a natural disaster even though his house was much bigger than yours.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Only hate ND (actually like Mike Brey, just hate the school) and Louisville. Other than that, I respect everyone else in the Big East, especially Pitt and Uconn. Would love to beat Syracuse but don't have much against them. I like Villanova and Georgetown.

Agree, this is pretty petty and lame. I respect every Big East team and cheer for them when they are playing OOC and in the NCAA tournament.

Man, this is really tough to put in order after #1 hate, No Dick--that one is a no brainer--most arrogant fans in the country--more so for football--but it spills over to BB.
At any rate, here would be my rest, but the order could change on any given day:
2.Louisville--they own the series with us all time, and most importantly, Pitino, a vagabond prima donna who likes his sex on restaurant tables. And oh, let's not forget Dick Vitale's on going love fest shilling for Pitino
3.Cinncy/West Va.: for employing Thuggins. I know, I should be more charitable, because hey, everybody needs a job to put groceries on the table
4. Syracuse: a whiny Coach, but a tremendous program that I envy and wish we could match, and believe there is no reason we cannot
5. Georgetown: for the convicts/bums they employed in the past. i.e. led by Iverson and Mourning spitting on an opponent. I will admit that this "hate" is fading as the original John Thompson is gone and it appears that III is doing a better job with his recruits. Also Alonzo has changed over the years. However, Georgetown is constantly over-rated
5. Tie, UConn: Dirty program and Calhoun needs to exit
The rest I am pretty much neutral on, except St. John's is one to keep an eye on. Lavin reminds of a snake oil salesman.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

I don't think this is lame at all really. We obviously don't wish anybody harm in their personal lives but being a fan of a sport is all about rivalries. It's natural to have disdain towards certain teams or players and while you obviously don't wish them harm, it never hurts to see the team lose. For example it bugs me Syracuse let Devendork get away with what he did, and therefore I can't support them. The same goes with Chris Paul when he was at Wake and punched the other player in the gonads, I never liked him as a player afterwards College or NBA. I think its healthy to have teams you dislike, because thats what make rivalries so intense. Its the reason why we get more pumped for MU vs. ND than MU vs. Vandy. I can personally say I do not cheer for every team in OOC play, because I think conference teams are supposed to have more disdain towards each other. Just like I'll never root for the Bears and Vikings when they're playing games outside the NFC North, because it just doesn't make sense.

Whichever team's win benefits us the most regarding standings or NCAA resume.

There's nothing wrong with Rivalries. I guess I don't have a problem with saying which teams we hate, or like to see lose. I love seeing UW lose. But most of these are personal attacks on coaches or players or fans, some of which are definitely true. But still, if we read a board of another Big East team attacking Buzz or calling all of our players thugs or questionable academically (maybe saying because they are JUCO or whatever), we wouldn't take too kindly to it. Its just silly when we say things, and then act all pissed and call fans of other teams tools for saying the exact same things.

I respect the hell out of Bo Ryan, Jim Calhoun, and Jamie Dixon. Its ok to hate the program, but I feel like we are better than just throwing whatever personal attacks against a wall and seeing what sticks.

1) Syracuse
1a) Syracuse
1b) Syracuse

From our short time in the Big East, the arrogance of many Orange fans has surfaced everywhere from here, to the Scout site, to the Journal Sentinel, to the blog speaking of ruining National Marquette Day.  Erik Devendorf to me perfectly embodies Syracuse, NY...and outside of Syracuse, you won't get any argument that Devendorf is about as douchey as you can get, much like Syracuse.

2)L'ville
3)Notre Dame
4)Pitt (primarily only because they are always good)

Not true, I wish a lot of harm to Devendorf. I def shouted "Shoot him like A horse" when he went down at the BC in 08-09
I don't want to paint with such a broad brush of being 'lame' but I like UConn and Nova and WVU -to a point. I legitly don't hate any team in the BE (except Cuse kinda) and I cheer for BE teams to advance in the NCAA as long as they aren't playing MU.

MUfan12

For me, it's still ND and Louisville.

Cuse is shooting up the charts.

With Pitt, I'm not a fan of their football-esque style, but it works and I respect them. Have had some battles with them. I'm pretty ambivalent towards everyone else. Do root for Nova when not playing MU.

Louisville and ND.  Don't like Providence either because they've done nothing on the basketball front in 20 years yet get to run the show in the BE.  Seton Hall was right up there with Louisville and ND until they got rid of Gonzo, now I don't mind them.  I hate DePaul for being so bad that it makes us look bad for being the team closest to them geographically...and for beating us last year.  Don't love Nova like everyone else because Jay Wright's metrosexual ways bother me.  In order:

Louisille
Notre Dame
UConn
Providence
DePaul
Nova
Pitt
Cincinnati
Georgetown
Rutgers
WVU
Seton Hall
Syracuse
USF
St. John's
TCU
