It was great to see Lazar Hayward at the game last night. It was sort of wondering though if he was at the game was he cut by the Timberwolves ??

Word is he was sent to the D-League, but I've yet to see an official report about that.

I was listening to the radio for the game and Homer and McIlvaine said he was sent to the D League.

Every time Crowder was subbed out, he went over and slapped hands with Lazar before sitting down.  I thought that was a nice touch, though I'm not sure how their relationship developed.  Jae was the only one I noticed doing this.

He also led the pre-game huddle/chant thing in the hall outside the locker room.  Great having guys like him hang around these guys.

I loved seeing Lazar back at the BC last night. You can tell that Marquette really meant alot to him (his leading the pregame huddle, slapping hands with Jae, his cheering for Frozena as the game wound down). Hopefully his demotion to the D League will be a short one.

Great to see him looking sharp. I don't think the players and coaches thought he would be there.

Maybe because Crowder is wearing Zar's number and all the pre-season talk that he was to step in and is like Zar etc.

I've never seen a star player root louder and more genuinely for walk-ons than Lazar.

Class act all the way around.

Well yeah, but since Crowder has been at Marquette (fall), Lazar's been busy as hell with the NBA business.  So, I'm curious if they've been talking and developed a friendship.  We (and journalists/bloggers/etc.) can talk all we want, but it's like equating Dwight Burke's passing of the torch to E-Will because they wear the same number.  (not ripping on either of those guys - just adding them there for the sake of argument)

Or it could be that Jae's that kind of guy - which wouldn't surprise me at all.

I can't remember which game it was two seasons ago when Frozena got in.  Lazar was jumping up and down excited for Frozena.  Frozena, in a second of confusion, passed to the wide-open Lazar on the bench.

That was a great moment.

From the scout board regarding Zar's rumored demotion to the D-league...

Re: Lazar Demoted

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is not accurate.

I talked with Lazar tonight after the game for a story I'm writing, and he has not been sent to the D-League yet at all this season.

Also, prior to asking Hayward tonight, I was not able to find any posting anywhere online about him being sent to the D-League after I saw this topic, so I'm not sure where you read or heard this, but it doesn't appear to be true.

It's possible that he's just inactive. NBA team have 15 roster spots but only 12 are active for each game.

On the DJO breakaway dunk, Lazar was almost on the court. Love it.
