It looks like you are right. I just checked Maymon's status and he is listed as a sophomore. Given that he will end up playing 7 semesters instead of 8.  Both Smith and Maymon must have really been miserable at MU to be willing to lose a half of season of playing time (either that or they are stupid).  However, Maymon probably believed he be in the NBA before his eligibility was up so losing half a season would not matter to him.

No Maymon will play six semesters.  One at MU and five at Tennessee.  The only way he could have played seven is if he would have redshirted the entire 2010-11 year.
