Just ask his mom Dan Shulman and his dad Len Elmore...

dead god gentlemen. i sincerely hope Mr. Gray enjoys his Scott Merritt like pro career bouncing between the NBDL, Australia, Israel, etc.

maxpower773

I can't stand Elmore, he bugs me almost as much as Dicky V does now. I wouldn't be surprised if he slept with the whole Pitt team after the game tonight.

PuertoRicanNightmare

For crying out loud, I don't like Gray either but he really stuck it up our collective keisters tonight. He deserved every second of praise.

maxpower773

Just ask ESPN. Did you see that one clip of Gray grabbing Barro's arm?! He grabbed him with both hands, and yet Elmore went on to say how great he was playing and how he was getting position....yes he was alot of the time, but he should have fouled out he did at least commit 5 fouls, but Elmore has his head to far up Grays butt to see this.

He deserves praise for flopping? for having the refs call fouls when he gets breathed on? for going over the back for every board but never getting called? it was like he is Shaq out there...

I was at the game so missed the comments from the announcers, but the way Gray was treated by the officials was awful.  His only offensive move is to back straight into the defender (an offensive foul) and keep pushing him back until he is under the basket and can take a two footer, which he hits about half the time.  He is so unathletic that he can't get position under the basket but just uses sheer size to go over the back of those who have position on him and he does not get called for that.  And anytime someone got close to him it was a foul.  It was ridiculous.

Hate to say it, but I don't thing Gray would take offense to this comment.  He destroyed us last night.  We should have sent down a guard to double him every time he caught the ball in the post.  He caught it in good position, but still needed a dribble or two to get into his comfort range.  Having a second defender makes it really difficult to take those back to the basket dribbles.

It's interesting to note Gray got 22 points in only 28 minutes.  Even if they'd been calling all his fouls, it would have shaved only, guessing, 5 minutes and 5 points off his totals.

.. Indeed, that iso shot of Gray grabbing Ooze's arm with BOTH hands, pulling him down away from the rebound .. then having the ESPN dude saying how Gray was taking a beating .. did he even look at the monitor?  ESPN even put a nice yellow box around the foul.

muwarrior87

i also like every time he'd catch it on the block and step into the lane for a little hook, he'd grab Barro's arms like they were window shades and move them out of the way so Barro had no chance of altering the shot or getting a block. the reffing was awful in this reguard and the half of the time that Gray missed his little 2 footers, he'd reach over someone's back or push them out of the way or off balance cuz he can't jump more than 3 inches to grab a legit rebound. His unathelticism and lack of offensive ability other than making 2 foot jumpers @ 50% will make him a very good fit for the NBDL.

Warrior1969

That guy is a oaf!  he won't be able to stop anyone in the NBA!  They will abuse him on D!

Just was posting a response over on the Pitt rivals board and realized something..
a.) Gray's FG% was 43.75% which seems abysmal to me considering 99% of his shots were within 2 feet of the rim.
b.) Gray's FT% was 57.14% - no comment.
c.) Gray tied Barro for total rebounds (10).  This is no knock on Barro but hardly anything clearly distinguishing Gray from Barro in this stat.

All this in what has been mentioned as one of Pitt's best played games all season.  Quite frankly, I am still not convinced this Gray boy really measures up to his hype any more than DJ has been playing up to his pre-season hype.  *shrug*

I agree with Warrior 69-----Gray won't get off the pine in the NBA-----too slow-----he'll be easy to front which will force him to get the ball further away from the hoop where he's a sterile goose-----also on defense he'll be as good as "nonexistant"!
