Wesley Mathews had 36 (7-10 on 3's, 9-9 fts) in Portland's win tonight. Good to see him absolutely earning that big contract.

awesome... very happy to see him putting up such big numbers

Wish the Bucks would have signed Wes instead of Salmons!

Actually, it was a bit disappointing when you consider that he scored 29 points in the first half and only 7 in the second half.

Oh come on. You expect him to be that hot the whole game? Even Kobe has quiet halves.

I wonder what the highest single game total is for an undrafted player in NBA history?

9-9 FTs.  I wonder what Wes' philosophy on practicing free throws is.   ::)

And if it's transferable, I hope he shares it with our team his next visit to the Al.
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

I have a feeling tonight is going to be another big night.

Take an Alka-Selzer. Probably just some bad Mexican you had for dinner.

Game is on ESPN now.  Might not be a huge night; they said Wes sprained his ankle in practice yesterday though he's still starting.

Update: Wes looking great and unaffected by the ankle, 12 points after hitting a buzzer beating three to end the first quarter.

Wed finishes with 26 points on 5-10 3pt shooting, 9-20 overall. He's turning into option 1b along with Aldridge.

chance to make the Sophmore All Star team?

Some of the young punks who hold themselves in such high esteem should be made to place one phone call to Wes Matthews. Call it perspective, a reality check, keen insight, wisdom from on high, or simple advice from one who has truly earned it...

The day I was commissioned my father, who was a general officer, shook my hand but only said, "take care of your men." No congrats, no atta boy, etc... Years later I asked him about that and he pointed out that I had really earned nothing at that point. He said I still had to get through flight school and then had the potential of combat ahead of me as well as responsibility for the men placed under me. The most difficult tests were yet to come and it was incumbent upon me to earn it.

I am astounded at the arrogance of these 18 year olds who demand much though not having earned anything. I refer to the Reggie Smiths and Jeronne Maymons. In stark contrast are men like Wes Matthews and Lazar Hayward. They suborned self for team, played selflessly, worked their asses off, and earned everything they have gotten in this world. Buzz should give the next Reggie Smith Wes Matthews' phone number and tell him to call before giving the child any time.

Felt good to vote for Wes as a write in on the All Star Ballot...

No doubt about it, he'll be on the roster. 16 a game will get you on the team, not many better 2nd year guys...

Don't follow the NBA that closely but check out the 2009 draft: http://www.nba.com/draft2009/ ....not many players that I hear about that play the 2G, tyreke evans I suppose.
