Wow, an 18 point loss at Pitt, then a 15-point loss at Lville, but then they give us a 12-6 mark overall - the best I've seen on any predictor.

They are different in that our projected 2-point win vs. ND is just credited as a win while Pomeroy and others might credit is as .54 win and .46 loss, but this is quite a wild swing.
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

The Man in Gold

Didn't they have us at 6-12 two days ago?  Now that is marked improvement...well done Buzz.
Captain, We need more sweatervests!  TheManInGold has been blinded by the light (off the technicolor sweatervest)

I will be shocked if we lose by 18 or 15 and pleasantly suprised with 12-6

either way no shot we lose those to games by that much and still finish 12-6

It was wrong the other day...they were having issues as were some of the other RPI sites.

I've mentioned it before, I'll probably mention it again. In Buzz Williams' past 54 games as head coach at Marquette, we have lost only one game by double-digits, the 80-57 shellacking handed out by Georgetown at the Big East tournament last year. The odds of us losing two games by 18 and 15 in the same week is unlikely. Buzz's teams simply don't get blown out very often.

Too bad Vegas doesn't let real time RPI set their lines.  Louisville is a patch of sand in the Vegas valley in 2006.

Pitt is good, but I don't get why people make them out to be as good as the team that featured Dajuan Blair, Sam Young, and Levance Fields. I think MU can defintely win this game and isn't quite overmatched as some may think.

karavotsos

Agree.  I think the thing that set that team apart from other Dixon teams is they had great transition offense until Fields got slowed by injury.  Plus, they could score better in the halfcourt than this team w/o offensive rebounding.  I would say its the tough d and high offensive rebounding numbers that are hallmarks of Dixon's teams so far.  However, generally they play a lot of halfcourt, and they struggle to score in the half-court w/o the offensive rebound.  They're probably more respected this year because that year was a great year for college basketball, and this year college basketball is trying to recover from a down year last year.  This year, though better than last year, is not nearly as good as 08-09.  Mainly because the SEC, ACC and PAC-10 need to get their act together.

Wasn't Pitt picked 11th in the pre-season poll? They will likely finish well above that. It just shows one thing: The BEast is one of the premier BB conferences in the country.*

*Meanwhile, as a FB conference they suck!
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

This year they weren't picked 11th, I believe it was last year
