When, if ever, has MU beaten a team three times in a season (besides tonight w/ Pitt)?

Third time's a charm, Part II: It didn't take Crean long to answer when he was asked the last time a team he coached - either as head coach or an assistant - beat another team three times in the same season.

"Louisville, 2001-'02," he said without skipping a beat. "We beat them two times during the regular season and we beat them in the conference tournament. Those were great wins because that was the beginning of Rick (Pitino's) time at Louisville."

Crean then added he didn't buy the old adage that beating a team three times in the same season is harder than beating it twice.

"No, and I'll tell you why," he said. "There's no way our guys won't have some edge to play Pittsburgh, just like they'll have because they're a great team. It's not like they've been anything but close games. If they weren't close games then maybe those things become factors. But they have been extremely close games and our guys have great respect for them.

"I'm sure that adage works somewhere, but I don't think it applies to this game."
