I thought Vandy had to work hard to get that winning shot off.

I agree. Vandy showed pretty good composure moving it around and finding the open man. Easy to panic in that situation.

Any criticism of Buycks last night is simply ignorant, as is the failure to recognize the strenths he brings to the team.

The one thing that people seem to fail to mention, and perhaps because it wasn't as big a deal as when I first saw it, was Crowder's decision to jump out to the top of the key to double the shooter leaving 2 men under the basket for O'tule to guard. You can see that O'tule tries to guard both guys and when the player who made the layup gets the pass, O'tule has to recover to defend him.

I really didn't see the need to double a shooter at the top of the key and leave 2 men under the basket. Anyone else?

In hindsight, no he shouldn't have doubled... but the result was their 5th best player on the floor making a contested layup.  I guess its hard to have it both ways, I was sure 1 of the 2 wings was going for the win, that is usually the mentality of a scorer and ideally they would have because it would have been extremely well contested.  It seemed like there was a little too much time on the clock to be pressuring so hard, but I like getting it out of the best players hands. If Jenkins took a semi contested 1 on 1 shot and buried it (ala Butler from WV last year), the same people would have been complaining the same amount.

+1
Buycks made a few boneheaded turnovers, but his strengths to the team far outweigh anything anyone else is going to bring to the table.  DJO and him seemed to be gelling a little better last night.

Crowder didn't double.  The guy was coming off a screen up top and Crowder jumped it.  It wasn't the best decision...I'd rather have the guy shoot on the move off of a screen.
