The kid from Port Washington was very impressive  on the floor when the Badgers played MU.  I think he is going to be a thorn for the next three games against Bucky.  Diener toughness with size.
In heaven Marquette always beats Wisconsin

madtownwarrior

looked like a future lottery pick to me....

that being said, I think Vander will do just fine in the next 3 gmes against the badgers...

Honestly, I wasn't impressed with him at all. He had a lay-up where he drove around DJO but other than that he was almost non-existent. I say "almost" because I believe he was the guy who was attempting to foul Buycks and caused him to lose the ball out of bounds with 2.6 to go.

He might have Diener's toughness but he has no where near Diener's talent.

mu-rara

Looks like a plain vanilla Badger type.

NickelDimer

I saw him jack up three quick 3's at the beginning, then get yanked.  Other than that everything he did was pretty pedestrian.  And calling comparisons to TD very premature would be an understatement.

Might want to hit the eye doctor.   ;)

He took 2 three pointers the entire game.

Played 30 minutes...so if he was yanked, he wasn't yanked long.

His team won....Bo's a great coach and obviously believes this kid is a player if he's playing him 30 minutes a game.

NickelDimer

Ok, so he jacked up TWO quick 3's and was benched.  Point still stands, although it doesn't tarnish the poster of him hanging on your wall.

I was teasing.

He's a heady player, Bo Ryan is a great coach, for some reason great coach is playing this "pedestrian player", playing him many minutes (30 against MU) and winning consistently.  Hmmmmm

Nukem2

Gasser is what you see.  Will be a solid player.  Not spectacular.  Not in the NBA.  But, he fits the UW system well.  Good luck to him (execpt against MU).

Let's not get carried away here with the whole "winning consistently" thing. Yes, I know that they're 8-3 so far, but it's only 11 games into the season and their schedule hasn't exactly run them through the gauntlet. Let's wait and see his minutes and production once the Leaders & Legends portion of the season begins.

MuMark

Gasser may in fact turn out to be a very good player but he had little to do with UW beating MU. He couldn't cover Buycks and was pretty much of a non factor on offense.

Bo is indeed a great coach......Badgers won because they killed MU on the offensive boards in the 2nd half. MU out shot them from both the field and the free throw line.

Rubie Q

Maybe I'm oversimplifying this, but doesn't Gasser play so much because the other option is Jarmusz?

GGGG

Exactly.  Jarmusz has been quite the disappointment.  Really, their backcourt would have looked a helluva lot better had Diamond Taylor not gotten in trouble (he's at SIU now) and Vander Blue stuck to his verbal.

That doesn't seem likely to change much - the Badgers have a limited supply of guards due to the burglary thing last year, so Rob Wilson seems like the only one that would reasonably take minutes away from Gasser.  Even then, Gasser would still be the third guard coming in for Taylor and/or Wilson.  Next down the line is senior walk-on Wquinton Smith.

I think Evans and Jarmusz are platooning the SF slot, depending upon whether Bo wants his SF to take all or none of their shots.  Theoretically they can move Jarmusz down and play Taylor/Jarmusz/Bruiser/Leuer/Nankivil or something, but he'd probably have a hard time guarding most of the SGs out there.

Jarmusz has a tough time guarding anyone anywhere.
