With the BE regular season over, I took a look at the final conference-only statistics.  Here are the highlights.

TEAM STATS

Free Throw Shooting - MU finished in the top half (7th) is FT% at .696 and tied for 3rd in made FTs with 253 of 378.

3-Pt Shooting - While our percentage (.331) isn't great, our opponents only shot .315 against us.

Rebounding - As a guard-oriented team, we were +1.7 rebounding margin and were 2nd in the league in offensive boards.

Attendance - Our home attendance of 17,929 ranked 3rd in conference.

INDIVIDUAL STATS

Scoring - James was our 3rd leading scorer averaging 13.0 points/conference games.  Both McNeal (14.9) and Matthews (13.3) were higher.

Ooze - Among conference leaders in several categories including rebounding (7.6, 9th), offensive rebounding (3.69, 2nd), and field goal percentage. (.585, 4th)

Assists - Nice to have multiple guys who can dish the rock.  James (5.31, 5th) and McNeal. (3.79, T-11th)

Free Throw Shooting - Glad we figured out who should have the ball late in games.  Matthews was 9th in the league at .820.

Steals - The big 3 all made the top ten.  McNeal (1.79, 5th), James (1.75, 6th), and Matthews. (1.63, 9th)

James - For all the flak he's taken, here's a great point guard stat.  James was 2nd in the BE with a 2.43 assist/turnover ratio.

Nicely done fellas.

part of that assist/turnover ratio is because of these last few games... he's had 6 turnovers and 23 assists in the past 3 games and a few others down the stretch w/ btwn 5-8 assists and no TO's...he can be a very solid PG down the road, that's for sure.

I'll take that versus him building up the stat in the beginning of the season and fading.  When he's looking to pass first, score second, he plays well.

please tell me Ousmane Barro is going to win Big East Most Improved Player.... if anyone else wins this category, its a shamockery (going back to Miller Lite commercials)

not gonna be Ooze, and he doesn't deserve it.  Brian Laing from SHU has to be the favorite.

That's a travesty, a sham and a mockery. It's a travashamockery. I did love those commercials.

Actually as far as assists/T.O. ratios go, Dom has been very steady throughout the conference schedule so I don't really see how the last few games should be overemphasized.  Per the stats from the Wiki, Dom had a streak in the middle of the conference schedule from Pitt to Rutgers where he had 25 assists and 6 turnovers.  I will go so far as to say that he is a very solid PG right now but his bad shot selection has been very poor.

I think Herbert Hill wrapped this award up 3 weeks ago. He had decent numbers last year (Barro-like) but had great numbers this year.
