Slightly OT - MU-Pitt in Women's BET Tonight
« on: March 04, 2007, 12:12:43 PM »
You'd never know it from reading the JS who didn't even do a preview article for the Women's Big East Tourney (yet there was one for the Women's Big 10 Tourney in Thursday's JS) but the 3 seeded and 19/23 nationally ranked Marquette Women's Bball team opens up play in the Big East Tourney tonight at 7p central against 6th seeded Pittsburgh.  Marquette had their 15 game winning streak ended at Pitt in January in an overtime loss.  The game is televised on ESPNU and will be on 1290AM in Milwaukee - the audio broadcast and live stats via Gametracker is available on Marquette's site:  http://gomarquette.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/sched/marq-w-baskbl-sched.html

Congrats to sophomore Krystal Ellis (from Racine) and senior Christina Quaye who were named to the BE 1st team and to coach Terri Mitchell who is the BE Coach of the Year.

Marquette already has a school record 24 wins (previous record was 22) and is a lock for the NCAA Tourney but a good performance in the BET could greatly help their NCAA seeding.
