Of course it's just exhibition, but not a great start for Oliver Purnell.

Hmm...maybe a dangerous new trend in the Big East? A team loses an exhibition match, then proceeds to exceed all expectations in the regular season, proving their critics wrong and establishing themselves as much better than most pundits and fans initially believed. Last year it was Syracuse, ridiculed for their exhibition loss before going on to run roughshod over the rest of the Big East conference and earning a #1 seed in the NCAA tournament.

So I guess that means we can pencil DePaul in for a 2-14 Big East record  :D

Damn....based on our success last year against DePaul, I sure hope we don't have Lewis on our schedule.

Nine months later and you're still fixated on our worst game in an otherwise two year success story. Perhaps you should refrain from your "let it go", "time to move on" mantra until you can walk the walk.

I understand you're in the middle of a catfight but that loss was terrible.

Being the '1' in DePaul's 1-35 record the last two seasons is pathetic.

Besides, tons of people still bring up the Kansas Final Four game over seven years later. We all have different low points.

Exhibitions mean jack crap. Ask Syracuse.

I'd have to agree...being at the Final Four in New Orleans, excited about the MU team who had beaten Kentucky and Pitt to get to the Final Four...with the best player ever in MU history on the team...thought we had a real chance to win against Kansas.  Less than 10 minutes into the game....it was OVER....we just got humiliated on a national stage.  NO way Kansas was 35 points better than that MU team....but we had no answers for how to compete in that game.  It still stings...and though proud of what that team accomplished..it was an embarrassment to be in the Superdome that evening as a Marquette fan.

Didn't we play Lewis under Crean once? I think then it actually counted on our record, rather than an exhibition.

Really? Not disagreeing but that's a massive statement and even being able to say there IS a best player ever feels like a small dig at our tradition.

Honestly, no one outside the MU community remembers we lost that game by that much.

If the MU community (and other serious basketball fans) remember how badly we waxed UK in the elite 8 game,(and they do) my guess is that the Kansas community (and other serious basketball fans) recall the magnitude of the whipping we got in New Orleans at the Final Four.

I agree that it was a really bad loss, as were the games against Kansas, Western Michigan, N Dakota St., etc. My point has nothing to do with that.

I'm merely pointing out the hypocrisy of dispensing advice to others to "let go" and "move on" while refusing to do so oneself.

Yeah, I believe it was 04-05. If I remember correctly, we played them at the Al.

That's because our turtlehead coach didn't know his ass from a hole in the ground.

It's no dig at our tradition. We've had many (5-10?) teams better than the 2003 squad - that said, Wade is without a doubt the best player to ever wear an MU uniform.

Except every single one of my friends, it seems.

I believe it was Stevens Point we played at the AL that year.

If they continue playing exhibitions and don't switch to two DI scrimmages, I wouldn't mind seeing another exhibition game at the AL.  It was great being able to hear Dameon Mason tell a guy he smells like $h!t after smelling him.

The D2 special we had each year. Thanks.

I could have sworn we played them the year before, since Kyle Green was coaching there after he left MU's staff. We played Point at the BC, I remember they had a good amount of fans there, and the game was close for the most part.

EDIT- I knew I wasn't losing it! http://www.lewisflyers.com/sports/m-baskbl/recaps/110404aaa.html

Chicos wouldn't be Chicos without being hypocritical...that's just his M.O.  After 3 years of reading this board, and now 1 year as a poster..I've come to figure the BailBondsman's deal.  Makes for good debate and entertainment at times for sure.  That said, thank you for pointing out the irony and hyprcrisy of Chico's latest offering.
