Xbox live fall update (including ESPN3)
« on: November 02, 2010, 12:28:37 PM »
I applied the new xbox live update last night... I was somewhat indifferent overall.  The ESPN3 app required a few downloads, and after that was all done it appears it doesn't support Time Warner customers yet.  This link seems to indicate they're trying to get that resolved by the end of the year (by connecting an xbox live ID to the time warner myservices login, I'd assume).  Did anyone give it a try last night?  The ESPN.com highlights it did allow me access to seemed to stream in good quality with little trouble.

Not a fan of the new Netflix interface.  I'm sure the ability to search for titles will be useful on there at some point, but too many of the new UI parts blended into the background, and moving up and down between categories seemed slower.  Also had significant issues with playback, but that could've been on my end or just related to the rush of people on Live last night.

Don't remember what the other parts of the update were.

Was unaware the fall update was being released this week.  I will have to check it out tonight.

I played around with it this morning. It works and looks great. Even the live stuff streamed well without any hiccups. Definitely looking forward to using it for games this year as I was getting pretty tired of watching at the computer.

For some reason it told me I could not download the ESPN application.  I have Comcast and can watch all of that stuff on my computer so i am a little confused.

i too have verizon and it works great.  very smooth, acceptable picture quality.  pretty pumped to watch crappy non-con games from my couch.

ESPN3 is a pretty cool feature. I'm hoping it will improve when i can watch more sports -whats being offered right now just hasn't appealed to me yet.

New netflix interface is pretty annoying, I liked the old one. Plus I hate non-instant movies coming up in my queue.

My 360 just threw the E74 error yesterday morning.  While it's over a year outside the 3 year warranty that covers the RROD problem and the E74 problem, I still can't help but wonder if the fall update pushed the video chips over the edge into failure.
