Darn, I was hoping this was going to be more in-depth or something. As in, weren't there a bunch of articles/press last year about how Syracuse was doing so well with so many under-recruited/under-valued (something like that) guys?

This doesnt make any sense. Why wouldnt you follow recruiting/care about the recruits coming in.

Recruiting is the lifeblood of any program.

It's not about the Xs and Os, its about the Jimmys and Joes.

Also, that stuff about Syracuse was a bit misleading:

Wes Johnson - No, not ranked high, but everyone knew about him when he was trying to transfer.
Andy Rautins - Not ranked high, but the son of Leo Rautins, or so I heard.
Kris Joseph - #56 in 2008
Rick Jackson - #57 in 2007
Scoop Jardine - #48 in 2007
Brandon Triche - Borderline Top 100, believe he was at one time, but then fell off.
Arinzie Onuaku - Not ranked

And dont forget the other Top 100s that saw very little time:
Mookie Jones - #46 in 2008
Dashonte Riley - #85 in 2009

Correct.  And what first time head coach (not counting the UNO gig) comes in and starts landing multiple top 50 guys right off the bat without proving himself as a coach first?

I don't understand saying you don't care, but 'don't get too worked up' is good advice.

I could give you 10 reasons to not care about the NFL draft (Hawk, Harrell, Meredith,etc) but I could give you ten more why you should care (Matthews, Rodgers, Jennings)

I picked a random year and look at the top 10 recruits:

I bet 75% of those players ended up being starters on their respective teams.

You might strike out, but getting a top 100 improves your chances.

2009-2 (Maymon, Junior) (Williams-104)

2006-1 (Lazar)
2005-3 (3 Amigos)
2004-0
2003-1 (Mason)
So out of the 8 previous years, only 3 classes were better. 1 was the historic 2005 class but that was one-time year with no other big time players. 2009 had 2 players, but 1 transferred. 2010 had a great class but we didn't know we were getting blue til very late. And if you are the type of person that clumps Wilson in this class, it is basically comparable to the 2 previous years.

If we get 1-2 Top 75 players every year, we will be just fine. Just can't have years of getting none.

2007 was the Mbakwe, Hazel, Christopherson class.  Mbakwe made 4 other Top 100 lists, but Rivals didn't have a particularly high opinion of the kid, ranking him as the #42 Power Forward and no where near the Top 150.
