I not feeling overly optimistic, but both Nick Faust and Mike Shaw announce their decisions today.  We are still in the running for both, but the rumor mill says we are on the outside.

M@RQUETTEW@RRIORS

Is Buzz in on any big time JUCO guys?  I know we would like one of these big time recruits. However, the JUCOS he has gotten seem to be upstanding guys, good students and really good players.  I wouldnt mind another djo or  JB myself...

I hate to be Debbie Downer, but it will NOT be a "Big Day Today" for Marquette.   :(

(Please be wrong, please be wrong)

MUCrew

I want to be an optimist here, but I just can't.  My gut is telling me it's Faust to Villanova and Shaw to IL.  I want to be wrong....I really do.

That said, no matter what happens today, I completely trust Buzz, the coaching staff, and the rest of the program.  I want recruits to come here because they want to, because they're upstanding people, and because they have that motivation to be an outstanding basketball player.

Thanks Debbie.  Thanks for coming.  Drive home safely.

Predictions...

Faust to Maryland...pretty confident in that.

Shaw to MU...more of a hope than anything.

Daniel

No one "in the know/analysts" is picking MU as the choice for either of these two guys.  IF we get one that will ba fantastic - Buzz and his team have workied tirelessly on Hood, Shaw and Faust for a long. long time.  If we don;t get either one, Buzz and Aki and Tony and Scott etc. will be moving to the next wave of recruits harder than they are now.

I am confident that Buzz and crew will find the talent we need.  That's what they do.

What time does shaw announce?

Are any of the players Facebook "friends" with either prospect?

No shot on one of them. Second place for the other one. Yay!!

I get the feeling that the players know where they are going.  The only reason we and others are on the list is to add some drama to the press conferences.  I hope I'm wrong, but I see no reason to believe that we are in on these two guys.

To get some drama at the press conference, they have to list their top 4 or 5 schools - even though they already know which one they will select.

Hope I'm wrong!

IDK.  Too busy to check it out today.

Shaw is friends with Reggie

Shaw's FB status..."Tomorrow is a big day for me to decide where i will be next year..I have great schools to choose from...Hopefully when i wake up tomorrow morning I will know my decision..thanks for all the support....time to get it done..Delasalle 3:00." Maybe we still stand a chance

Faust to Maryland and Shaw to Illinois.

That's 2 whiffs in one day. I'll take that I'm just happy we were even an option for these two good players. Moving right along....

There must be some mistake. I don't see The Bamboo Grove, Olongapo City, Subic Bay, Republic of the Philippines on this list.

I admit I am a bit disappointed. Probably largely due to higher expectations from Buzz's past two classes. I really hope we can still get another high-school kid in, hopefully one of the three-star power forwards we're looking at. A decent-sized project with upside. Follow that up with a junior college guy, ideally a center who will be ready to contribute right out of the box, and this could still be a strong class. Our glut of talent may be hurting us as we don't have the pedigree of a Kansas, Kentucky, or North Carolina, but if Buzz can produce results in March, those consistent commits will come.

Yes, MU missed on its top five targets this summer but the pool is still open to searching. We know we'll get a JUCO in the Spring (seems to be Buzz' pattern) so with one spot left my guess is you'll see anything from a Point Guard to a raw Center prospect being entertained the next two weeks.

On a side note, after three rejections in 24 hours I have the picture in my head of Willy Wonka sitting at his desk with wild hair yelling, "You lose!! Good day, Sir!!"

Three rejections?  That's pretty harsh.

Consider this... you ask the prettiest girl in school to the Homecoming dance about a month in advance.  She ignores you for 3-1/2 weeks and finally tells you "no" a few days before.  You wrote her off after not hearing back from her after the first week... does it really matter that she finally decided to tell you "no."  Should you even care at this point?  If you've already asked another "serviceable" girl to the dance who's willing to go with you, should you still feel rejected by the first?

Fiddlesticks if he hasn't found his 12th and 13th yet... he's already got 11 guys that are accompanying him to next year's Dance any way.

WTF -- did I just say "fiddlesticks?"

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

No mistake.  You must be thinking of the Marquette University in San Juan and not the one in Milwaukee.

Nor does your list include The Fire and Empire Lounge, Angeles City, Republic of the Philippines. Not only did they have ice cold San Miguel but it was the Birthplace of Legends and final resting spot of shattered dreams. Your list is flawed, sir! Flawed!
