Duke is really filling up before Miller can sign.

With Rivers signing at Duke they have at least four verbals now (and one heck a class actually). http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/school/_/id/150

So, there are four verbals and three seniors as of now.  There is always the possibility of one player leaving early, but Smith and Singler will take so many shots that it will be hard for more than one other person to stand out at Duke this year.

Coach K has really done well recruiting, but is there going to be room for Miller and his friend?  Will someone get K'd up?

But seriously, with Duke filling up, Miller is very unlikely to be able to play with his buddy at Duke it would seem.

Daniel

There's a great school, rich in basketball tradition, about 800 miles or so northwest of Duke.  I think he can find a spot there and really stand out and shine.  Might be room for his buddy too :)

GO MARQUETTE!!

MarkCharles

I never got the impression that Duke was an option for Bello. They are already loaded at guard for the next few years with players who are probably better than Bello. If Miller wants to play at Duke, I'm sure he will have a spot, but I highly doubt Coach K will be taking any package deals.

If Miller wants to play with Bello, it seems Marquette or Baylor are the best options. Speaking of which, no word yet out of Baylor after their visit this weekend. No news is good news.

I can tell you that a friend of mine showed me some pics of Quincy and Deuce at the Baylor football game this past Saturday..and on the field the cheerleaders had signs with Quincy's and Deuce's names - they both looked to be enjoying it..as did Scott Drew.

Cheerleaders + signs with their names on them? How do we compete with that?

If these two are serious about being a combo, what schools are they looking at that are like us, in terms of absolutely having room for both of them?

I know Pitino doesn't, and now Duke is looking less likely to have to spots, and Baylor seems to be involved with everyone and their mother. Any chance MU is the logical place for them to go as a combo?
Warrior in the class of 2011.

Thats crazy, and kind of hilarious. It has to be pretty easy to get a big head if you are a top 50 recruit. Hopefully these kids have good heads on their shoulders and solid family/coaches behind them.

I can't phantom how Baylor continues to recruit like they have, Baptist university in Waco, never been to Waco but can't imagine it is a great place.  Perhaps it is ignorance but I just don't get it.

Baylor has 1 senior coming off the books and a likely one-and-done in Perry Jones, so likely 2 openings. They currently have 1 verballed player. So room for them would likely not be an issue, as I'm sure they could find one scholarship if needed for these two studs.

Oklahoma also has 1 senior and 1 verbal, but I doubt they would have trouble finding room, given that they are rebuilding their roster. They just brought in an 8-man 2010 class of mostly unheralded players, so there would be some possible candidates to be shown the door right there, whoever doesn't catch on this year.

Duke would likely find room for Miller, Bello is doubtful.

Louisville is over by 1 already, but would surely find room. Rodney Hood is priority #1 for them right now, and some (such as IWB) think they are not in as good of a position with Miller right now as they were a month ago.

Marquette seems like the logical place in terms of availability.

However, I doubt this weighs heavily in recruits' minds. I would guess it is a very inward-looking decision for a recruit and they will let the coach sort the mess out. I would guess this will play no role in either of their decisions, as long as they are told by the coaches that they have a spot waiting for them.

hahaha "I can't phantom..." That sounds like something Michael Scott would say. Not trying to make fun of you, I'm sure it was a spellcheck error. That one just made me laugh.

To answer your question, I'd say the biggest factor is Scott Drew, one of the best young coaches in America.

Waco is in the middle of nowhere and difficult to get to.

And what, Milwaukee is a garden spot? Marquette, like Baylor, has a religious affiliation and is located in a so-so at best city. Are you somehow suggesting being Catholic is better than being Baptist?

brewcity77

The longer this goes with Miller, the more I feel we have a good chance. Of the schools he is really interested in, we seem to be the only one that can take him and Bello without any need to shuffle other recruits, and as Louisville and Duke look less and less likely, it improves our odds. I just hope we can actually get them on campus. With Miller's personality and Duke's full class, maybe he'll decide he should visit us for Madness instead of them :D

Milwaukee may not be Paris, but it looks pretty sweet standing next to Waco.

GGGG

Cmon guys seriously?  Waco is decent enough when you are a college basketball player.  I mean, if location were all that important to a player, would Kansas be a national power?  Gonzaga?

NersEllenson

Waco, while only about a 1.5 hour drive south of Dallas-Fort Worth...is a pretty sh$tty town.  The only thing it has going for it over MU is warm weather (and the girls might be slightly better looking) - but from a campus beauty perspective, city atmosphere, facilities...hands down Marquette/Milwaukee win.  I know some don't think MU's campus is "beautiful" but it is a very nice, urban campus now after all of the redevelopment.

Scott Drew has done a phenomonal job down there, but to me put him and Buzz in a room and Buzz is MUCH more of a presence.  Scott Drew kind of has a happy go lucky disposition, even a little geeky..but he is effective.

Waco was heaven on earth according to David Koresh.

Waco is a pretty poor town but Baylor's campus is really nice...lots of new buildings and development over the past 10-15 years.

bma725

C'mon guys look a little closer at the roster before you start making comments about it filling up.  Duke is only using 10 scholarships this year, the other two guys on their roster are walk ons.  They lose two to graduation, which means they have five available for next year, and that's assuming no one transfers and no one decides to leave early(Irving).  They don't have to find a spot for Miller, one already exists.

As for Bello, Duke hasn't been recruiting him in quite some time.  If Miller were to go to Duke, he wouldn't be taking Bello with him.  Miller knows that and still has Duke on his list, so that should say quite a bit about how much he likes them.

You guys really think Coack K gives a crap about a player packaging himself with another player? I'll bet anything these two sign with different teams. Any coach that signs both (which i obviously think is highly unlikely) probably got on his kness and sucked them both off.

My guess is that all but a very few programs would leap at the chance to get the number 2 player and his top50-60 sidekick as a package. Boeheim would break out the kneepads from his playing days if he thought it would help.

goodgreatgrand

Doubt it. He locked up Christmas and will supposedly has Dejuan Coleman in 2012. Youre talking about the same Boeheim that told Wroten to take a hike, right? Sorry, but I know a lot more about all the BE teams' recruiting than you do.

Then why don't you do us all a favor, and take your act to the other 15 schools message board?  I'm quite sure we can get our Syracuse updates as needed on our own..not that many of us actually care.

Actually Ners, he didn't bring up Syracuse....Lennys Tap did.  I appreciate the fact that he corrected him.  Don't fall back into your "you're not Marquette enough" mode OK???

I guess you're free to doubt it since Miller and Bello have zero interest in Syracuse. I'm sure you know more about BE recruiting than me. I'm equally sure you have less knowledge than me about any subject in which I have more than a passing interest. Have a nice day.
