this rumor had been floating around the law school for the past few weeks, glad to see it confirmed. not to mention the wisconsin supreme court chief justice, shirley abrahamson. not too shabby.

Sweet.  Hopefully he impress on a few of them to actually read the Constitution and not make crap up to fit their agenda.

Regardless of where one stands politically it's an honor to have someone of his stature on hand for the dedication. Though I don't share his politics, I'd feel the same way if it were Justice Stevens.

I survived Rehnquist giving the dullest speech in history at my graduation.   I've heard that Scalia gives a decent speech, so at least they have that going for them.    People study the bible their whole lives and reach different conclusions.   Hence all of the religions.   MU basketball study the minutiae of the team for hours and reach different conclusions.   Ergo muscoop.   Constitutional scholars reach different conclusions even after years of study.   Many have different opinions than Justice Scalia.   chicos, just say 'at least they have someone who's interpretation of the constitution is in line with mine.'   That would be less disingenuous.

Ironically, as I read this during the sunrise, the sky is actually orange.

I am all for debate and actually enjoy a heated discussion on the merits of any idea, philosophy, policy, etc., but I enjoy it much more when both sides are honest about what if fact and what is not.

So where would a guy like Scalia dine on Wednesday night?  He has that "Eddie Martini's" look about him, to me.

I didn't realize my statement was political.  I thought it was based on the rule of law.  Go figure.

+1. You have the perfect guide in the Federalist Papers. Shouldn't be difficult to understand what the law of the land is, unless you are determined to ignore it and are trying remake America.

Certainly helps out that the Law School dean clerked for Scalia in the '90s.

talking about the supreme court and/or it's appointees is not about politics or shouldn't be if one adheres to our constitution.  talking about obama being a kenyon muslim is religious with political overtones however, so we won't talk about that ;D ;D

Pretty sure that Kenyon's mascot is the Lords, not the Muslims:

which opens up a whole new debate.  I thought he went to Columbia.

oops, my mistake.  didn't they have to shorten it to lords from war-lords?  he did go to occidental on a student visa thing from indonesia first, then columbia, but for some weird reason, the records aren't real clear

I think the point was that you didn't know how to spell Kenyan.

Scalia is a nut-job extremist (i.e. he knows 99% of his opinions before even hearing the particulars of the case). They have them on both sides, left and right. I am pretty middle of the road, by the way. John Roberts (Bush appointee) is a pretty good example of what a SCOTUS justice should be. Pretty disappointing that MU would choose this guy.

Pfft, 3L here, I want a job. Can also forward resume, old MU BBall adventure stories, etc.
But you'll probably have to pay me more than a summer intern... Probably.
