I wonder how Buzz feels about this, he may be encouraging guys going to prep if MPS is going to screw these kids chances of them getting to college.

Darnell Harris to Christian Life in Texas is interesting,  Buzz encouraged move??

KipsBayEagle

Few things are as dysfunctional as the MPS.  Isn't the mayors office going to take over the whole school system?

I didn't see Buzz implicated in this at all, and frankly I hope he had nothing to do with any of this.

Blackhat

I'd applaud buzz.  These kids don't owe MPS a darn thing.  Judging by numbers on the MPS failure rate they'd be making the wise choice for themselves by going prep.

This has become a story in a different light in Chicago, where students in general are living with family elsewhere in the country because the gang problem on the South Side has gotten so bad. I think that more students, especially student athletes will be going the prep school route to avoid trouble.

First of all, Buzz really shouldn't be getting involved with MPS players...especially underclassmen that he isn't intending to recruit.

Second, what makes you think that some of these prep schools are any better?  Kids can get through MPS if they care enough.  I mean, kids are transferring from Vincent, Hamilton and King - three of the better high schools in MPS.  Don't necessarily think that just because MPS graduation rates suck, that it means that kids can't get a decent education if they try.

I hope Buzz has nothing to do with this...and I don't think he does.

You are correct.  I was thinking Rivers was King.

Forget quality of education for a second.

These kids are also leaving well respected, structured and successful HS hoops programs.  These HS programs teach more than just basketball, surviving the rigors of these programs can be as impressive as a diploma.

Now I know some kids go to well established prep schools that are legit but many others are going to "schools" popping up in the middle of the night.

All they need in Milwaukee is a near $600 million new high school and that will do the trick...it's what the "educators" and pols out here in California just erected.
