Will be announced today...I follow the Deputy AD on Twitter, and he just posted, an article about MU beating Duke in the CBE a few years back.  Feel like that is a strong hint we are playing the Dukies...

Would love love love to get a shot at them...also helps our preseason RPI, and gives me even more reason to make fun of Duke

MUfan12

Most years, I'd agree. But they are loaded this year. Would rather face someone else to start, then have to deal with Duke for the championship.

Big Papi

If they do it on some sort of ranking system I have think we are seeded 4th and will play against the Dukies.  Kansas State and Gonzaga are probably 2, 3 in that order with Kansas State having the home field advantage.

Broeker's next two tweets were about MU playing Gonzaga and Kansas State in the past.

He did make the Duke tweet more than two hours ago and then followed it up with the other 2 less than 30 minutes ago.  :D

Will Duke be the preseason #1? If so, my guess is that MU would be their first real test of the season. When was the last time MU faced the #1 team in the nation?

March of 2003, UK. (I think)

Someone on the Scout board had the genius idea of finding the CBE website, finding the PDF for last year's tournament and then altering the URL for this year.

It's Duke.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- National champion Duke will play Marquette and Kansas State will face Gonzaga in the semifinals of the CBE Classic.

The schools will serve as hosts of the four regionals in the 12-team tournament. The semifinals will be Nov. 22 at Sprint Center with the championship game on Nov. 23.

The other eight teams will play in subregionals from Nov. 20-22. Miami (Ohio) will host Green Bay, IUPUI and San Diego State, while James Madison will host Bucknell, Presbyterian and Princeton. Each team will play three games in the subregionals.

Texas beat Pittsburgh in last season's championship game of the tournament which is sponsored by O'Reilly Auto Parts.

Im excited we get another shot at Singler.  Losing to Duke in the Maui with Singler dominating us made me sick.  Granted this Duke team is loaded, yet, this will give us an idea of where we are at in terms of competing with the nation's best.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

What a weird "tournament", final 4 already decided, what if we lost to bucknell or GB?  Sucks for them I guess

GGGG

Playing Duke when we have a relatively inexperienced backcourt is really not something I am looking forward to.

PGsHeroes32

I wanted Kstate..

I think we actually match them well

A win win situation for MU. Beat Duke on a neutral court and it's a huge W on the resume. Lose and it's no big deal.

who's going? me and my buddies are skippin school at MU those two days. already got tix!!!

I get that playing Duke, the odds are stacked against us.  But c'mon people.  This will most likely be Duke's first nationally televised game, as the defending champions...and people are complaining?

Sack up gents  8-)

Strokin 3s

I actually think we match up decently with Duke, given the fact that they don't have a big bruiser like they had in Zoubek that is actually really a nightmare matchup for us.  In a lot of ways their team mirrors our size.

Tournament bracket (pdf)
Predetermined semifinals (Kansas City, Mo.): Duke vs. Marquette; Kansas State vs. Gonzaga

Projected NCAA tournament teams: Duke, Kansas State, Gonzaga, San Diego State
In the mix: Marquette

Five key storylines
• How will Duke's backcourt blend early in the season with freshman Kyrie Irving, veteran Nolan Smith and transfer Seth Curry?
• How will Gonzaga handle a monster stretch to start the season?
• Can Kansas State ride the K.C. crowd and make a national title statement by knocking off Gonzaga and possibly Duke?
• Will San Diego State be able to emerge out of these four games -- all away from home -- without damaging its at-large chances?
• How will Marquette handle the loss of Lazar Hayward in its rebuilding process?

I'm gonna take the week off and drive out for that / swing up to milwaukee for Turkey Day on the way back!
