Before this board blows up even more between both camps, I feel we need to come together and at least agree on a few things:

1. Dont do this again Buzz!
2. Pretty much no one likes the strategy of using NLIs this way (whether he was truthful with DJ or not).
3. No one likes and wants to see Marquette disparaged anymore, but if this happens again in a similar way then this WILL badly hurt MU's reputation.

Buzz just better not be using this strategy in the future, Ill let it slide this once...but I dont want to hear about a player leaving unless it is for legitimate reasons for a while. Buzz has had time now in recruiting, and is in on a number of big-time recruits for the future classes - there should be no reason he does something like this to upgrade the talent again.

I mentioned it as a joke at first, but now I am starting to believe that it was the Newbill camp that requested a release from his NLI a while ago (as in at least a month ago, probably more).  DJ et al saw the writing on the wall... he wasn't going to get any PT at MU, so he asked for his release.  MU granted, but didn't/couldn't waive the Big East prohibition to the dismay of DJ.  Knowing that MU would be back out on the recruiting trail to fill his spot, Newbill's camp waited for the inevitable moment of MU's announcement of the new signee to express feign "outrage" knowing that MU can't and/or won't comment on such matters (i.e. defend itself).

To me, the above makes more sense than what has been implied by most - that this is all Buzz's fault.  If that's true, then Buzz will be fired.  Pushing a signed recruit out for someone better might fly within the AD, but not amongst an administration still dealing with fallout from another PR nightmare.

Unless Buzz is fired, I will go on believing that he did nothing wrong.  Just like many will go on believing Buzz is at fault without substantiating evidence.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Wow, cant disagree more everything there. How is that a more likely scenario? A top 500 recruit would want out of the the only known Big-time scholarship offer he had?

Oh, and Buzz will be fired if he A) loses or B) he makes a bad name for Marquette with his players or with his own actions. Neither has happened yet, but he's going to start treading the boundary of B if he does more moves like the Newbill one (Im not counting Maymon, Mbao, Saunders, etc - they're just not in the same category).

Then you will be doing so without substantiating evidence.

Yes... that was my point.  Thank you.
