Wow..yet given his registration for the ProAm, the transfer announcement..and rumors of Wilson to MU for awhile..I guess this isn't a surprise at this point.  Welcome to MU Jamil!!
"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."

Wow, Awesome! Wonder if Buzz "kicked" D.J. out though?  ?-(

Anyway....I'm back to my original username minus the '09 part.  Maybe I brought some good luck for once? :P

TomW1365

This guy seemed to know something about this back in February...
I feel really bad for DJ Newbill... hope he lands on his feet at a great program.

Or maybe the lack of any name like that brought about the good luck ;)

With all this discussion of the manner in which DJ is leaving, we are forgetting about what we gained today. Jamil Wilson is exactly what we needed in the 2011 class- a super athletic, 6'7 forward who will step right in and fill Jimmy Butler's shoes. He has great length and versatility and with some time to focus on improving away from game-pressure, he should add polish to his potential.

And can you imagine how hungry he'll be after sitting out a year? I bet he won't have too much of an adjustment period at all.

Thank God someone has finally said this instead of just focusing on the bad part of this news, which may in fact not even be related

ATWizJr

If he is a transferring player and sitting out 2010, does he count against the scholarship max?  I think so, right?

Warrior2k13

I believe he does, same rules as a redshirt right?

Per IWB, THIS IS NOT A DONE DEAL.

Seems that Gery Woelfel may have jumped the gun a bit here.

Not saying it wont' happen and there is interest between the parties but nothing has been finalized.

Lol, what if he becomes a badger...I'd like to hear the spin then.

FOX Sports Jeff Goodman (who has been a guest several times on Buzz's radio show) apparently is also jumping the gun a bit too:

From twitter: Source has told FOXSports.com that Oregon transfer Jamil Wilson, a Milwaukee native, is headed to Marquette.

Its from the premium Scout board....normally I wouldn't take info from there to post...but in this situation I did.

I think there is too much speculation going on and not alot of facts.

I think its best to see what comes through the MU AD department.

Mr. Nielsen

I guess my source was right.

Don't count out Jamil Wilson playing this season for MU.

can't the NCAA grant a waiver if the coach leaves?

Not for a current player on scholarship (recruits on an LOI can get a release without penalty), but there'd be a chance Wilson could apply for a family/medical hardship wavier.

This is what I thought as well.

Mr. Nielsen

Players can ask the NCAA, not to sit out if the reason to leave is family reason. AKA, his mother's death for being homesick. Now in this case it's very, very, very, much not going to happen, since his mother passed away before he went to Oregon.

I don't know enough about Jamil yet, but just reading these stats makes me stagger all of the optimism people are telling me I should have:

"He averaged 4.7 points and 3.2 rebounds in 16.9 minutes."

The Pac 10 wasn't too good of a conference and he still didn't put up that great of numbers... is he really THAT great of a catch??

Just to reiterate, I don't know enough about him... looking for some more analysis of his game, etc.

GGGG

The gomarquette article said that he would have three years left.  Is that because he is burning his redshirt during his transfer year?
