MU bars in DC?
« on: November 11, 2006, 12:52:22 PM »
I just moved to DC and was wondering if there are any MU-friendly watering holes in the area to watch games?

i'm actually working on that right now.  i've been calling some bars and seeing if they would want to become an "official" marquette bar, where they would show all games offered on ESPN networks and maybe offer a few specials on gamedays/nights.  i know that i could guarantee a bar 20-30 people for every game.  i'll keep you updated if i find a bar...

Hey, this is a great idea of information to share on the Wiki (I know the question comes up a lot for many cities).  I've started a "Marquette friendly bars in other cities" section on the bars page.  Add the ones you know, and the new one you find in DC!

SPL,
If I hear of a group going to a certain location for a game I'll be sure to post it. Last year, there were a number of games where people went to Bailey's in Ballston. (Arlington, VA)  It's not an MU bar, but it gets a pretty good crowd.

actually yeah, i just got off the phone with crystal city sports pub, and they will be showing the game tonight.  hopefully that's close for you.  there should be about 10-15 of my friends there, but i'm trying to get a hard count of my friends cause they're gonna set up a section of the bar for us.  you can message me if you need more info or thinking of coming.  also the alumni association is doing somethign at the hyatt hotel bar near metro center.  there's more info on that at the alumni website.

We're actually going to Grevey's in Falls Church.  Not sure how many, but maybe try to consolidate for tomorrow's game.
