Canadian Dimes

I guess all their pontificating and supreme knowledge was per the norm...just alot of postering and babbling.  Good to see some things have not changed.  What do your sources say about the future of the middle East?

Others...that would be the non-drama queens felt a few teams would move here and there and that would be the end of it.  Something that boring does not fit the drama agenda and quickly got buried by dozens and dozens of "inside" sources, drama, and "already done deals".  Glad i could only make it thru about a post or two of those colossal wastes of time.  I feel bad for everyone who is now dumber for reading them.

Kind of like after the fact I told you so posts?

It's not over yet.  There is no set time period for conference realignment.  Talks will continue for a long time.

The hilarity is that you think it's all over.  And up until about 11:30am yesterday, the major seismic shift is exactly how it was playing out, until significant other parties stepped in to stop it....for now.  But I suspect you knew that was going to happen. LOL.   Then again, you're the one that said this whole thing was "simple", which of course proved to be anything but and remains complicated as hell.

You can be naive and continue to think it's over and you would be wrong.  Money talks, the next Big East television contract is critical for so so so many reasons.

The irony is that no one here said  "exactly how it was going to play out".  The guy is so disingenious.  People opined on how it could happen and what the likely scenarios were.  But that's Robert for you.

It's probably too early for "i told you so" posts, but at this point Dime's prediction would seem to be more accurate than those who thought it was going to be mayhem, and bad for MU...

Dime's prediction isn't in that thread, at least from what I can see.

I was pointing out the utter disaster being predicted  ;)  And I know you know how to find his posts, but it was in another thread so I'll share it...

Again, were people predicting disaster or talking about what the potential scenarios were and IF they happened what it would mean (and nearly did happen until a mega company stopped it hours before happening)?

Seems to be two entirely different things.

My prediction, conference re-alignment isn't over yet.  Whether that means it starts up again next year, 2 years or 10 years, it's not over by a long shot.

"This is only a temporary solution.

Smart people and smart money predict that this new conference setup won't hold for decades to come -- probably not for even a single decade. As we enter a period of relative calm, the plate tectonics of college sports are always in motion beneath the surface. And the next eruption might be the big one.

One athletic director who has been involved in the national realignment negotiations put it this way Monday: "There is no emerging status quo. DeLoss [Dodds, the Texas athletic director] is buying the time he needs to contemplate and perhaps design a future that will be more on his terms."

"Bottom line: All the discussion in recent weeks about winding up with four super conferences wasn't just hot air. We could still be trending in that direction -- or at least toward some new direction.

Just because the conference map wasn't completely blown up this summer, don't think the current landscape is here to stay."

Dimes and others can think this is over, that's fine.....maybe Pat Forde is just a blowhard.  I hope MU is vigilant as well as the Big East, knowing that things are fluid and can change on a dime (pun intended).

Lame.  Get on him for being a "blowhard."  Get on him for making predictions.

What arrogance or is it ignorance?   Two or three dozen posts over the last few weeks predicting how he knew what was going down thru contacts and inside sources yet when he is completely wrong states smart money and people ar still on his side.  The last sentence is a true classic.  Do you do horoscopes too?

Bottom line is small moves are much more likely.  And even without a championship football game the big 12 is better where they are.  How many people in the central time zone want to stay up until midnight for tip off or kickoff on any given night and then not even be able to read about the game the next day after they fall asleep before it starts.  the pac ten as many of us know is barely in the thought process of 70% of Americans.  Additioanlly anything over 12 dilutes revenue.  amjor rumors and huge catclysmic events are great for internet rumor but make little economic sense at the end of the day.

HouWarrior

This is a very odd thread. I live in Houston. I just finished watching the most "drama" in the conference's sports news since the blow up of the SWC. Is one a "drama queen" for watching real, accurate news reports of Pac 10 invites, SEC invite to A&M, and 2 teams leaving the conference?
This was FACTUALLY very dramatic, even if the ending was an anticlimax.
Name the last, most recent occassion, when two teams split from their conferences , of many decades, and joined 2 different conferences, neither of whom had expanded for 20 years. never.
I am watching  a movie "thirteen days"---by analogy,  you are sounding like  Adlai Stevenson knowing a diplomatic solution would resolve the cuban missile crisis, and mocking the drama queen General LeMay, and the supreme knowledge Kennedys/McNamara for worrying about, discussing and playing out all those "supreme knowledge" scenarios and options, and wasting everyone's time , given the anticlimax that you foresaw (not at the beginning, but 5 days before the end- ie mid story).....Thanks Adlai for your wisdom
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

Lots of people (in both the media and on this board) made predictions on how this whole thing would shake out. None of the predictions concerned possible scenarios one, two or ten years down the road. They were about changes that would happen in hours, days or at most weeks. Bottom line: Dimes pretty much nailed it while everyone else whiffed. Time to move on.
