Money grappin' assholes are taking all the fun out of college athletics. First democracy takes a hit, then healthcare gets fucked up, and now intercollegiate sports. What's taking the old greg next?

Im especially tired of the new rumor about combining the BE with the remaining B12 schools. WVU, Rutgers and Syracuse dont even want to be a part of the conference. And making the BE even more basketball-centric is dumb. It doesnt work and its been proven over and over and over again.

HoopsMalone

It is creating so much uncertainty that it will probably slow recruiting until it gets resolved.  I wouldn't commit if I was a recruit now.

bilsu

Right now it would be pretty boring if this was not going on and it gives me another reason to hate the Big 10

willie warrior

Yeah, they need to get the dominoes in place and get it over with. Every hour there is some new speculation on a different conference realignment.

I have a feeling this will go on for a few weeks.

What really is galling is the prima donna attitude of ND thgrough all this. It probably won't happen, but it would be great to see them get the big shaft through this!

Money talks--the rest walks.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

I don't have a problem with ND so far.  They clearly could have gone to the Big Ten if they wanted to.  The fact they haven't helps us out tremendously.  Obviously things could change, but so far they're OK in my eyes, and they've remained silent.  Texas on the other hand, they seem like they're whoring themselves out for the best offer and trying to play the conference against one another.

I disagree, they would extremely easy to replace.

If ND moved to the B10, and we took Xavier from the A10 this could have all been over by now.

So, when does all the fit hit the shan in the BE?

First democracy takes a hit,

Quick question: When did democracy take a hit?  I'm a little confused about that one.

I think the conference realignment is exciting. It probably won't work out well for MU, and that's a shame for those of us that care. But I certainly wouldn't put the debacle on the scale of things that really matter (like healthcare and democracy).

Do you really need to ask.....Just think about it a little!

Not to hijack the thread, but I'm thinking about it a lot. It doesn't really make any sense.

I don't think that you are hijacking the thread, I credit 4everwarriors by making such a inciting, yet vague claim.

I'll at least try a couple of guesses:

1.  Al Gore wins the popular vote, but loses to Bush on electoral votes.

2. (and this is my choice) The Supreme Court decides that corporations as "fictional persons" (legal fiction, it's a legal term of art) have the same fundamental right under the constitution as people.  Thus, the big corporations can drown out individuals with massive ad campaigns in favor of what ever will allow them to make more money.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

So...you start a new thread talking about how tired you are of the conference realignments talk only to ask a question about the realignments?

Mr. Nielsen

I was sick of the rumors in May, now that thing are happening this is fun.

Ah, that's right.  When someone got elected with different politcal views than you.  That's democracy failing.  As someone who probably voted the same was as you, I'll say it.  Grow the F up.

Ready2Fly

Booooooooooooo politics

And this conference realignment will only be fun if MU and the BEast can sieze this opportunity and enhance our position. If the BEast dissolves and MU ends up in an A10 type conference, this will not be fun at all.

Weird thought: if we're able to enhance our position in this reshuffling, do we owe the B11 a thank you? That made me uncomfortable to type.

Which the left's beloved unions just used to blow $10,000,000 on trying to get a hard leftist elected in a primary in Arkansas. Looks like liberals enjoy that SCOTUS decision as much as anyone.

The First Amendment is so horrible, isn't it?

Agree.  When it was little more than journalists making up fairy tales to try to get attention it was lame.  Now that actual moves have occurred and there are likely more to follow it's interesting, but I'd rather it happened quickly.  It stinks for recruiting among other things to have a bunch of indecision in the air - the Big Ten's threat of "stages" of expansion puts a sour note on the upcoming seasons as well.

You can be against something while at the same time recognizing that if it's going to be the law of the land it completely changes the game and you either have to take advantage of the new rules or face the consequences.

That was a horrendous decision, no matter who is exploiting it.

I would like to talk about Obama being a socialist.  Could someone direct me to a political forum please?

Additionally, Obama was born in Kenya.  Kenya was a part of the BRITISH EMPIRE until 1963.  Obama was born in 1961... during the rule of the British in Kenya, thusly proving how Obama is directly responsible for BP ruining the ENTIRE OCEAN!
