He'll get eaten up in Europe...what a joke.

Wade for President

Huge loss for Providence.  That dude was a beast.

GOMU1104

He was kicked off the team today. He did a year of prep school, plus sat out a redshirt year, so he will already be 22 in July. Would he really want to sit out another year? Would another college coach really want to deal with him? Seems like Europe really isnt that bad of an idea.

chapman

I do think Europe is a good decision for him.  Providence is going to be pretty bad.

downtown85

I think he will do well in Europe on the court.  He just needs to keep his emotions in check.  I guess that is easier said than done.

TheButlerDidIt

European leagues have ways of weeding out "me-first" ballplayers. He won't last there either, IMO.

+1.  That guy was unreal.

Must have been a major team rule violation to actually be kicked off the team.  He would have probably been a preseason BE first teamer.

This wouldn't be a pun directed towards Jerel, would it?

Golden Avalanche

Big loss for the Friars. It'll be interesting to see if Keno can transform Dixon from a nice role player to a dominant post presence. Otherwise, Davis' program seems to be a bit of a madcap proposition.

Still waiting for someone to explain to me why Providence has always thought they run the Big East conference (and why they get a direct line to the commissioner). They have been irrelevant for decades. And they voted against Penn State. And their AD "isnt too worried" about the upcoming re-alignment. If Im a football school AD in the BE, I'd tell the Prov AD to 'F* off' before throwing my 'intent to jump the sinking ship and join the [fill in the blank with any other conference] papers."

They basically created the Big East.

Mr. Nielsen

PC might be fighting with DePaul for last place. This is a big loss for PC.

Sure, along with 6 other schools (three of which field football teams).

Not exactly, though I didnt mean it like they should or do control the Big East. The group that created the Big East was led by former Providence coach Dave Gavitt and is headquartered in Providence. Without Providence, there is no Big East.

Gavitt and Tranghese certainly understood basketball but they didnt have a clue about football. Big swing and a miss.

Just sayin....but if Im a BE football school, I'm thinking there is NOTHING the BE can do to prevent me from walking away. Why would I want to be part of a conference in which I get the same number of votes as....Providence? What does Prov know about football?

In addition...the current Big East Commissioner, John Marinatto, was the AD at Providence for 14 years.

Do you really not understand all the influence and power that PC has in Big East circles?

Simple. Three Words.  Gavitt, Gavitt, Gavitt.  Do you think it is an accident that the BE office has been in Providence all those years?

Skitch

Obviously this is a moot point since he intends to play in Europe, but if he were to decide to continue at another NCAA D1 school would he be subject to having to sit out a year a la players who transfer?

77ncaachamps

He was too self-centered, too greedy.

A victim of PC.

He was Keno'd.

Then we should be worried about them next year.

Providence is a train wreck and Keno Davis is their engineer. And to think the "less risky" Keno could have been ours.
