Having another huge night for the Jazz... Did anyone else see him swat Carmelo????

CrazyEcho

20+ points, great defense on Melo, hitting open shots/making free throws.  Proud to have him as an MU representative in the league.

CrazyEcho

Just posted (basically) the same thing.  Great minds think alike!

Imagine if Tanned Tommy had not left MU. We would be hearing about Wes playing for Bufu, Greece.

brewcity77

Led the Jazz in scoring with 23, and finished the series with an average of 13.8 ppg. And with the exception of the game 5 loss, he increased his scoring output every game (6/7/14/18/15/23). He has really represented well this season, and while I doubt he'll ever equal what Wade has done, I do think he will be a very good player in the league for a long time to come.

ahh, I wouldn't say he was hitting the open shot going 4-12 on the night. The 15 FTA was the reason for the Jazz leading scorer. All in all, played awesome D as he's done throughout the series and keeps on proving so many teams wrong! Surely playing with a chip on his shoulder. Glad to admit he's the only reason I've been watching Utah.

MedicineHatSpanker

Tanned Tommy should hang his head in shame everytime Wes does it like a man. I would love to share a brew or six with Wes and get his view of The Creep of Bloomington.

+1,000,000. Couldn't agree with you more.

jficke13

I would totally want to get a beer with Wes. I wouldn't even care what we talked about.

Wade for President

13 made free throws by a rookie in a playoff game is insane.  Has it ever been done before?!?

Please.  What do you know about Wes?  Or anyone?

Wes is a superb role model and just a fine young man. My point is that he stands well apart from the thundering herd of NBA "personalities." We should be proud he is of our tribe.

WellsstreetWanderer

The reason for all the free throws was because he was aggressively going to the basket. Last night was the most aggressive I have seen him and it was beautiful to watch. 4th quarter 3 was a big reason they got ahead. he is improving game by game. awesome to watch

One can only wonder the "what if" quotient had Tanned Tommy used Wes more effectively. Oh what could have been...

Haha!  Not sure I'm in that category, but I'll take it!

Does anybody have footage of Wes swatting Melo's shot? I'd love to see that.

HoopsMalone

Wes has another big opportunity against LA.

First, he will probably spend a good amount of time covering Kobe.  First, Melo, now Kobe.  Tough gig.

Second, he will probably have opportunities to score.  Fisher cannot cover Deron Williams, so Phil is going to have to put Kobe on Williams in my opinion.  That would lead to Fisher covering Matthews, and that matchup is great for Wes.

unfortunately i think artest will probably match up with deron williams most of the time.  if wes could get some time against fisher, it would be nice because it would give him a chance to slash inside and try to get some fouls on gasol. that would be huge. bynums D can't hang with milsap and boozer.

Not saying he's not, but DWade and Tiger should teach you not to jump to such conclusions.

Artest will probably have to guard Williams a little bit, but I don't know if he has the footspeed.  They picked up Artest, in my opinion, with the NBA finals in mind to cover James.  Utah is a tough matchup for LA, and so would Phoenix or San Antonio for that matter.

Wes has a great opportunity here to score on Fisher and the backup Laker guards.  He also cannot let Kobe rest while guarding him.

GGGG

See, I think the opposite.  I think this is really a tough match-up for Utah.  I have no idea how the Jazz are going to defend Gasol and Bynum underneath.

Utah went 1-3 v. the Lakers this year, and the one win broke something like a ten game losing streak.  This is going to be a real tough go for the Jazz.

HoopsMalone

Okur's absense will hurt the Jazz against LA's big frontline for sure.  Williams is the only obvious advantage against LA.  Wes is a pretty big X-factor.

Jerry Sloan has to be sick of losing to Phil Jackson too.

Doris Burkes Thong

L.A. is a terrible matchup for Utah. I see Utah winning 2 games at max. Deron Williams is really the only mismatch Utah can present the Lakers. The Lakers present matchup problems for Utah with guys like Bynum, Gasol, Odom, and of course Kobe. Boozer and Millsap are very good players, but they're also really undersized when they face the Lakers frontline. As far as Artest, he's definately not the same defender he use to be IMO - he's lost some footspeed.
