When all the facts are in, I'm think that we'll find that he slept with the guys from Hoopscoop so they'd put him on their top 50 coaches list.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

DiaperDandy

Wouldn't that be something.....Another Big East coach gets the ax.  We would have to be a favorite to finish in the top half of the big east next season with all the turmoil involving other big east teams.

Wow, of all the years for Brey to be fired/resigned, and again the mysterious  "broken the university's code of conduct".

However, all of this writer's sources are message boards(= FAIL). As a grad with a journalism major, this is the crap that will only continue to infuriate me as our media is taken over by "rumors" and "I've heard" or "There's rumblings that."

Rumors like these breed themselves into something larger, and as there might be some part of the rumor that is accurate in some way, the built of reaction this will create just might make the end result become true.

KCMarq09,
You've just given me an inspiration.  Why not have all the posters here go out everywhere on the internet and start a "Missouri to accept Big Ten membership invitation" rumor.  Hey, if the reaction to the rumor helps push along the end result, we'll have been truly proactive on the part of the Big East.

There is something to be said for throwing the gasoline before the fire, but dont mean that to say that forums should or should not have an influence. I really do believe that online forums serve a productive service in society, but just like anything it can go too far and abuse its power.

Moving on, as Im from Kansas City and knowing the Big 12, If I were a Mizzou fan I would be jumping at the chance of getting in the Big 10. The way the Big 12 works so unequally, it really treats all members schools not named Texas, OU and Nebraska like crap (and South WAY over North). Id be nice to send a signal to UT and OU, as Mizzou would be making more money in TV revenues (easily) than UT.

whoa, if the report true, that would be huge this late in the game.  where would ND turn?  of course they would have to try to lure a coach from somewhere else, but the unrest at Oregon showed what happens to recruiting classes/the coaching pool when the calendar turns into early summer and a team is still without a coach.

i know I'm jumping the gun on this, but its just too fun to speculate as to carousels like this.  what big name coaches are still available? Gaudio comes to mind, Gillespie would be out of the running if this is an honor code issue?

4everwarriors

Maybe they'd revisit Majerus who had interest a while back. Interest seemed mutual until he said he cheated while a student at MU.

Not a bad looking 31 year old.  She must have gone for his "mock-turtleneck" look.

Brey's top assistant is Anthony Soloman, former HC at St. Bonaventure.  My guess is that this late in the game, they may just turn to him.  IMO that would be better than making a bad hire from outside the program.

Canadian Dimes

Soloman is a great guy know him well from the AAu circles.  Not sure that he has the dynamic personality to be a head guy at a BE school but he definitely is a high character guy.

We know where the line is drawn in South Bend on the code of conduct.  Makes you wonder what you would have to do to cross Loserville's code of conduct

IF this story proves to be true, ND is also stuck between a rock and a hard place regarding the decision they make on Brey's future.  The school has (clearly, in my opinion) overinflated moral/off the field or court issues so dramatically as of late, that they are required to sanction their athletes and coaches for things totally unrelated to the program.

In regards to basketball, the McAlarney fiasco immediately comes to mind.  ND not only kept him from basketball activities, but kicked him out of school for a semester for one marijuana violation.  Granted, ND can hide behind the fact that McAlarney was arrested for his violation while Brey is not actually committing a crime, but ND's message clearly wasn't one of civic obedience, but rather was trying to send a moral message (one that became hypocritical when they abandoned one of their own when he clearly needed a support network the most, if you ask me).

There was also a lot of talk concerning whether ND could hire a pro-choice football coach.  I had seen the mention on si.com, (granted, in truth & rumors) and thought it odd both then and now.  Now, I will be the first to admit that I have NO IDEA how much this consideration actually mattered among ND brass or anyone else. But if true, this just represents a further blending of personal/moral issues and ND athletics.

So if Brey has been fooling around, has ND given themselves any choice BUT to fire him?
And if they do fire him because of that, where does the madness stop as far as ND's athletic department becoming wholly involved in the personal lives of all its employees/student athletes?

I would agree with you if he were simply having an affair.  However, if the reports are that he was doing something in his office, well that's a firable offense.

BTW, here is how I think the conversation went.

Texas is the Big 12.  Mizzou is a speck on beavo's butt.  The main worry for the B12 is losing Colorado to the pac 10.

Just asking, but why would that be?  I have a customer that attended CU, and last week he was lamenting the lack of interest and support in CU athletics.  Basically, he was saying that CU was a tough place for sports because people in general care about so many other things, and Colorado in total was more of a Broncos area.

You must be from Texas

Not only that, CU's athletic budget is in the bottom half of the Big 12, ranking only above ISU, Baylor and the two Kansas schools.
