I heard the same rumor as to why Doc Rivers left MU.  Something with Morotta being pissed because Rivers stole and eventually married his gf.  Any truth?  If so, not that uncommon.

Anyone else concerned about the near libelous activity by deadspin concerning this story? i first heard this rumor on scoop, and the story came from deadspin. I then read an article where the author seemingly washed his hands of the story. i don't read deadspin a lot, but this bothers me that they get these quasi-sports related stories, and behave like the national enquirer when they have egg on their face. is this common for this site?

i also couldn't believe what i was reading when deadspin reported the whole espn sexual harrassment story. it seemed like deadspin just said to hell with any type of decency and wanted to exploit espn. i suppose that's media in general though.

The answer to the question - "Why did Doc Rivers leave MU after his junior year?" - can be found in the following except from a 2006 Boston Globe article on the Rivers family.

"His (Doc's) temperament would serve him well at Marquette, when someone slashed the tires and keyed the car of his girlfriend, Kris Campion, because she was white and had the audacity to date a black man. 
Kris was born and raised in Wisconsin, a stone's throw from the Marquette campus...
She met Glenn one day after class. He walked past her and said, ``You know, you'd be kind of pretty if you washed your hair once in a while." Kris Campion was too astonished to be offended.
"He came back and said, `Now I don't want to give you the wrong idea. I don't want to date you. But I have a friend I might want to fix you up with,' " she said.
The friend was basketball teammate Marc Marotta. He and Kris dated for a year or so, but one summer, he went overseas, and when he came back, Kris and Glenn had fallen in love.
