MU Grad on MTV Reality Show
« on: April 08, 2010, 08:53:37 AM »
Thanks to robmufan for spotting this:

2007 Marquette grad Theresa Gonzalez is on MTV's reality show Fresh Meat 2.

For those of us who lived at the lofts, she was one of the DRs the first couple years it was open.

I guess that I am falling in to the old timers category.  I'm only in my 40s but I am trying to figure out if this is good or bad for Marquette.  I don't think that I would want my daughter on something called "Fresh Meat".  To those that pay attention or care, what does this mean for recruiting, image, etc.

It doesn't matter in the slightest.  A few sophomores looking for schools may stop at our booth at a college fair because the recognize the name.  I'm guessing that the name fresh meat refers to the contestants being first timers.

If i ever talk to a parent who won't send their child to MU because of that I'm sure i can find some video of whatever school they choose that will make them change their mind.

I'm guessing the show won't even mention she's from Marquette.  Her bio on MTV's website doesn't.

Theresa is actually a friend of mine. Its pretty crazy to see her on TV.

This will not have any affect on MU. They haven't mentioned her being from MU, only Milwaukee. She will not be wearing any MU gear as they dont allow you to wear anything with a logo larger than a quarter or something like that. The only way she would be aligned with MU is through message boards/stalkers.

Yes, I am very concerned about the image for Marquette.  I mean, look at Stanford.  They are SCREWED now because of the association with Tiger.

Oh, and what jaybilaswho? said.

Funny, just last night, I was channel surfing and one of those entertainment news shows was on. There was a picture of Jon....wearing an II,II shirt. They must be so proud!

now that reflects poorly on a program.

I'm a huge fan of The Challenge (the show she is on), and I couldn't be more excited. When I found out, I told a solid 10 people in 24 hours. As mentioned already, there will be no mention of her being from Marquette in anyway shape or form. It might be for the best, it looks like things could get slutty pretty quickly.

Hey if Sean Duffy can go on the Real World and then Run for Congress, this'll be nothing but good for this girl!

there is now a 2% chance I will view this show, maybe I'll just catch the soup (with that guy that's on that show with Danny Pudi) for some mockery.

I know I'm on the younger side of posters here but I still talk about "when the real world was good" and wasn't only about drinking and whoring

To steal from Bill Simmons, the Real World is just a filtering mechanishm to get the best people for the challenges. The Real World sucks, but the challenges are awesome.

i've watched the first two episodes of this challenge. she fits right in the with the "atmosphere" of the show. also, she represents about 0.05% of the marquette female population. it probably doesn't reflect on MU either way. if anything, there may be more h.s. guys interested in MU thinking this is how the girls are at the university - they'd be horribly wrong.

very attractive. and pretty slutty. and a big drinker. though not sure how much the slutty and drinking has to do with the show/drama.
