First since Nova and Georgetown in 1985.  Admittedly one is Duke which is a historical force in basketball.  Nevertheless, it is rare to have one private school in the final... nice to have two in the final.

I believe you would have to go back to 1963 for the next time it was an all private school finale.... Loyola (Chicago) vs. Cincy

Cincy is public

My mistake.  Thanks.  Then you have to go back to 1955.... San Francisco vs. LaSalle.

Amazing... that means only three all private school finals in 55 years.

No it's not.  I hate Duke, and would have rather seen any BEAST team in the final before them....even WV.

LOL.  To summon my best Ace Ventura voice..... "Well... allllllrighty then!"

Not really concentrating on Duke in the final.  More concentrating on that Private Schools still have their time in the limelight now and again.  Though I can see how the Duke haters would not like it.    8-)

UC didn't become public until 1968, when they became municipally sponsored. So MarquetteDano was correct, first time since 1963.

Not true.  It has always been a public university...just not always a state-funded public university.

From their web-site:

"In 1870, the City of Cincinnati established the University of Cincinnati, which later absorbed the earlier institutions. ... In 1968, UC became a "municipally sponsored, state affiliated" institution, entering a transitional period culminating on July 1, 1977 when UC joined the University System of Ohio."
