Above is an article in the Sun-Times describing about how DePaul should go after Bruce Pearl....give me a break. Do these people have their heads up their a$$e$. DePaul's facilities are garbage, their students care less about the team, and judging by this search their AD is clueless on how to run a coaching search.

Bruce Pearl's UT team will be better next year than they are this year and give me any reason why he would leave his current situation...

An impending investigation from the NCAA and a big ass check from DePaul.

I have no insider information, nor do I think it's likely this season. But, I have a feeling that with Bruce it's just a matter of time.

T-Bone

Won't someone please think of the Maymons!

It seems unlikely, but who knows.  Would he get to bring his mini-me son to DePaul, or would conventional transfer rules apply - it is a family situation?
I'm like a turtle, sometimes I get run over by a semi.

Atlanta Warrior

It will be interesting to see if BC goes after Pearl as he is a BC alum.

I'm not sure you cats realize just how great Pearl has it in Knoxville. He's not only highly paid, but also worshipped. Can walk into just about any restaurant and some fans or boosters practically fight over who's going to pick up Bruce's bill.
The Boston College opening may be intriguing for him. I really don't know. The last info I had was his parents stll reside in the East. If I were a betting man, I'd say he stays at UT with a hefty raise and contract extension.
As far as an investigation of his program, take some ExLax, you'll feel better.

Agree with you totally!    I spend a lot of time in Knoxville and I can reiterate the fact that he is worshipped in Tennessee.  He has an incredible recruiting class coming in.  Besides, his new wife is from Tennessee and he just built a fabulous new house.  He has it made there.

BCHoopster

That beautiful house was paid for by a few alumni, like 4 of them paying abut $500K each, but for
that BP has to stay 5 years, 1 down.  He is not ever leaving till he retires.

Yep, Pearl is at a football school where the womens BB coach has more pull than the mens...

I think Pearl is exactly the type personality that would succeed at DePaul...   someone with charisma should be able to sell the program and keep a lot of the Chicago kids home.   JMO

It's not about the money, its ditching Tim Maymon.  Tim has that affect on people.

That can be viewed as an upside, too.  Under the radar, so to speak.

What is Pearl's personality/history suggests he wants to be under the radar?

I think that video and/or the very laid back suits he wears. You can tell they love him in Tennessee, and to be honest he probably pushes a few buttons here and there but where else can he have as much freedom as UT.

That's the best part!  Because he's not the football coach or women's basketball coach, he can do whatever outlandish crap he wants and no one cares!

But when the players get arrested he gets to kick them off the team and then get praised for beating the #1 team in the country without them!

The best comment I can make is to say that I clicked on this thread convinced that I was going to see that it was an April Fool's Day joke.

IMHO, Potash the sportswriter who wrote this for the Sun-Times is not the brightest light in Chicago sports journalism.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
