Tim Keown of ESPN wonders what Buzz could do with more.

Quote2. The guy with the best chance to finish off a season that cements a well-earned reputation as the one coach who can do the least with the most: Rick Barnes, Texas.

3. Coach most likely to splatter all over the court in an epic eruption of rage: Buzz Williams, Marquette.

4. However, just imagine this for a moment: Williams coaching Barnes' roster.

MerrittsMustache

The thought of Barnes being ousted at Texas (though I have heard/read nothing implying that) would really make me fearful of losing Buzz.

Therefore I say, give Barnes an extension!

Big man recruiting is the only thing separating our roster from becoming Texas-esque.

People in Austin don't care too much about basketball.  They have been spoiled lately and will again become complacent with a mediocre program.  No way they fire Barnes this year, next year or anytime in the next few years.

29. Evidence that Vegas pays no attention to seeds, and neither should you: Washington (11) versus Marquette (6) is pick 'em.

That gives me warm fuzzies.

Warm fuzzies eh?  To me that means he agrees that this game is going to be much closer than the seeding suggests.

A team of overachievers vs. a team of underachievers. Sounds like a pick 'em to me.

+1 here.  Texas, A&M, and Oklahoma, those are jobs where I could see Buzz getting poached away from us, if it ever happens, although I think he'll be here for a while, especially with the first year of his recruits coming in.

Should have been teal :(

When I look at my bracket, I see that Texas is an 8 seed, whereas MU is a 6.
I read also that MU finished 5th in the BEast, 4 games over .500; Texas finished 6th, just 2 games above .500 in conference.
(Yes, Texas' overall record of 24-9 is better than MU's 22-11.)

Bottom line, is Tim Keown implying that Buzz is a better coach that Rick Barnes, that given what Buzz accomplish with MU's talent, he would've done even more with Texas' talent?

Preseason, everyone was enamored by Texas' depth and their potential 10-11 man rotation. Where has that gotten them?  Nobody understood their role, they had no leadership, and plummeted down the stretch.

Many think that a 10-11 man, run and gun, hockey type line change rotation is awesome and cant wait until Buzz employs it.  I hope that day never comes.  Give me a solid 8.5 man rotation where everyone knows their role any day of the week.

Billy Gillispie was having a tough time getting people at A&M to the stands during their Sweet Sixteen run and voiced his displeasure a couple times.  Don't know how that sits with or if it matters to Buzz.

College Station, Texas is definitely a football crazed town, Buzz would be second fiddle don't know if he'd care though.   A&M would be a maybe as far as legit concern, depends how much Buzz wants to get back to Texas/the south.
