A few people have suggested the Hyatt Regency (only a few blocks from the arena), but the Hyatt is NCAA headquarters while the tournament is in town. So I think you will have trouble staying there- maybe not though.

There was an article I read a few weeks back in the local paper (I am trying to find it for you) that listed the area hotels that will be hosting teams, media and tournament officials. I dont know if you couldnt get a room in these hotels, but it will likely be tough.

From memory:
Hyatt Regency- NCAA Officials
Intercontinental- teams
Pfister- teams

there are more, but I cannot remember. I will keep looking.

*** Found It: http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/business/85440632.html

"The Hyatt hotel will be the headquarters for the NCAA and the media that will flock to Milwaukee. The Hilton, the Intercontinental, the Pfister, the Doubletree and the Radisson West in Wauwatosa will be the host hotels for incoming teams."

Good luck in Milwaukee.

What is Pitt's reaction to getting to play in the BC and not play Marquette?

I'm staying at the Pfister for the games this weekend.   I wonder which teams will be staying there

If beer is not your thing, then go to the Great Lakes Distillery, creators of some excellent vodkas and gins I would rank right up there with the best of them.   http://www.greatlakesdistillery.com/ On saturday evening they are having an open tasting of their new bourbon.

Sobelman's: Great burgers and a great Marquette bar.

If you like gambling, then hit the Pottawatomie (sp) casino.

If you want to see Miller Park without seeing baseball, TGI Friday's is open all the time (Pittsburgh really does know how to situate a stadium--utterly fantastic)

I'll be at Bradley Center Fri and Sun cheering on Pitt.

Saturday night should be pretty fun in the Third Ward, Brady Street and Water Street.

If you want another great burger, try Cafe Lulu in Bayview.

For a good time check out Art's Performing Center. Say hello there to Ziggy, a prominent MU alum, now sweeping their floors just for something to do.

arts is fantastic. I remember we went there on St. Patricks day in 05 at about 1230am because all the bars on waterstreet were soooooo crowded

on a serious note...don't go to arts

Stay at the Iron Horse Hotel. It's actually right by the Harley Museum. The place is gorgeous, has great food, and is a short cab ride to the Bradley Center. I highly suggest staying there.

Seconding Iron Horse.  Great bar in the hotel for a nightcap.  Near the Harley Museum and Great Lakes Distillery, where they have tours and great vodkas.

If you're going to do a brewery tour, go to Lake Front Brewery.

Food - Chili after finishing up the final session each night.

If you have always wanted to pick your own song from a jukebox so a recently pregnant girl could dance to it topless.
go to arts.

I'll add:

* Kil@wat has good food at good prices
* Safehouse has ok food, but the experience is neat. Someplace I always take out-of-towners
* A walk down to the lake (it'll be nice-ish out) to see the Calatrava wings on the art museum. Fine, I'm a boring old guy, but if you aren't going to all sessions, you need to do something when not getting plastered.
* Lakefront Brewery tour is fun, but 45 minutes early isn't going to cut it on a weekend. Go, get a space reserved, eat a fish fry, drink and take the tour. I would recommend this one over Miller's.

Go Pitt! (Wow, who thought I'd being saying that...)

Ahhh.  15 years later and I can still close my eyes and see that "performer" spanking her own...well you know.  Just another one of life's lessons before departing MU...there are some things, no matter how hard you try, that you just can't "un-see."   :'(
