The rule had been in place for many years where a host school for the NCAA Tournament could not play on the same days that the tournament was in that city.

In other words, if MU made the NCAAs and was also hosting the NCAAs, the day MU played would not be on the days the school was hosting the 8 teams.  This was designed to protect the ticket holders and insure that people could see the home team play PLUS attend the games at the local venue.

When I worked the 3 NCAA tournaments in the 1990's, this was the case (though we only made the NCAAs in 1996).

I have heard this may have changed this year and folks with tickets in Milwaukee may have to choose between attending the event or watching MU play on TV if they are scheduled at the same time.

Has anyone heard this?  Did the rules change?

Lunardi did say earlier this year that the rules had changed.

He was talking about how Syracuse fans who have tickets for their location may miss their team's first games.

I said it before here.
If MU gets placed on Friday, there will be 3000 fans in the walkways of the Bradley Center watching MU's game out there. Hopefully it will be at the same time as UW so we don't have to sit through that.

That begs a bigger question: will the NCAA black out the MU game from inside the Bradley? Forcing us to watch the games occurring there? Or forcing us to Goolsbys, Buck Bradleys, or Turners? And scalping our tickets into the games?

What a dumb decision that would be if they put us somewhere Friday.

I believe this falls under the committee's "try to avoid" guidelines, i.e. the committee will make every reasonable attempt to put MU into a Thu/Sat pod, but MU could play Fri/Sun if it cannot be avoided.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Becasue there are different time zones, the committee could send MU out west for the last game or east for the early game and avoid them playing when the tournament is going on in Milwaukee. You also have a break between the afternoon and evening sessions. Personally, I would like the last game on Friday. It takes the win out of the rest of the day, if your team loses.
