Seed predictions
« on: March 12, 2010, 11:01:53 PM »
Selection Sunday is less than 48 hours away so I figured let's get some opinions on what seed we'll get. Plus, I want to find something positive to talk about to forget about that butt whoopin we just took. I think we get a 7. I just think we'll get a better than expected seed this year.

A 7 would be very nice.  However i think we are in the 8 to 9 range unfortunatley.

7, 8, or 9.
Blow out tonight eliminated chance for 6.
Too good of a season in too good of a league for a 10.
I'm guessing 7.

10 seed, but they get a good draw vs Richmond or Xavier

9.

Hoping their spectacular flameout drops them to a 10.

i'd be very disappointed with a 10

though being a 10 could be better than 8 or 9
only difference between 8 and 9 is the uni color we would wear

I want a 8/9... I'd rather crack at a #1 seed in the 2nd round than in the Sweet 16. I know I'm getting ahead of myself here.. but we know we couldn't get a 8/9 and face Kentucky. I'll take my odds with us going all in as early as possible vs. a 1. If there's any more "flying under the radar" left in us, I'd want to use it on a 1 seed early.

I think we're an 8.

I'm gonna go with a 7...We are 2-6 against RPI top 10, 1-1 against RPI 11-20 and 10-3 vs RPI teams 11-100..and now with another NC STate win tonight..that eliminates that "bad Loss" as their RPI should come in around 85 now

probably 8...btw, look at the Mock 2010 NBA draft. KY has 3 players in top 10.....that is crazy. Do not want to see us seeded in their pod...or Kansas.

I'll say 8... though I hold out hope West Virginia backdoors into a No. 1 and we get the procedural bump to either 7 or 10.

Someone in one of the other posts wrote that Marquette's RPI is in the mid-40's.  Unfortunately, the committee seems to put a lot of weight on it.  Which leads me to conclude:

10 Seed

I'm hoping for a 7 but expecting an 8 or 9.  The last RPI I saw was 50.

The consensus is that we're locked into a 7 -10 seed.  Either way that leaves us with playing four teams if we're fortunate to get past the first round:  Duke, Ohio St.,  Kansas, Kansas St.  Take your pick.

We probably won't be in Kentucky's bracket, who will play in Milwaukee.  Syracuse (1), Nova (2), and West Virginia (2) are out because of the Big East connections.  I don't think Purdue gets a 2 spot.

No one here said 6.  So we've got to be happy with it.  Still ticked me off to hear so much negative talk after losing to Georgetown that so many said 8, 9 or 10 seed.  I love the 6!

Especially when you consider the expectations from the beginning of the season.  Is there a poll, thread or survey of how many thought MU would even make the tourney... much less what our seed would be?
