Was at the game Saturday night.   Just could not believe we had lost.  We looked so good for the first 18 minutes of the second half.  Managed to bring myself to watch the last 3-4 minutes on Tivo, on Sunday.

James hits a real nice jumper from the elbow to go up 7, 57-50.  From there the wheels fell off as we were outscored 11-2.  It was amazing in the fact that with that lead and that amount of time everything had to happen 100% perfectly for us to lose.

Wesley's defense on Smith's first 3 was simply terrible, he gave him 6-8' of space and  did not really challenge or close out with any passion.

Fitzgerald's travel was really the play of the game.  Reason being if he does not, everything else could not have happened.  We got the ball after the missed shot went out of bounds.  Fitz commits basically an unforced turnover with about 25 seconds left on the shot clock.  If we simply hold the ball those 25 seconds and lay it on the floor as the buzzer goes off we win.  Would not have been enough time for the perfect storm to occur.

After that Wesley 1-2, Jerel missed the front end on what was their 9th!! foul, if it was the 10th he has about 1% of the pressure.  James ill advised attempt to take the charge. The matador defense with 11 seconds left.  The foul with 5 seconds left that gave Louisville the last chance.  Unreal.
One other play that completely stands out was LAzar's travel during a breakaway layup.  D1 player traveling while going for a layup was not only worth 2 points but took the air out of a place that was already going crazy and would have exploded!
I was at the Reese gaines game and have been to many big MU wins and gut wrenching losses over 20+ years.  I realize it is still fresh in my mind but due to how it happened and to some degree what it may mean for this team's post season future I cannot remeber a last second loss as gut wrenching.
For example, the Loisville loss in 2003 and the Cincy loss in 2002 were just terrible but were not as meaningful.

I was at my friends house, with all Bucky fans, he was nice enough to let me use his computer to watch the last few minutes on gamechannel(or whatever Yahoo calls it).... very dissapointing.  Thats ok, its a new day, tonight Nova goes down, although Im a big fan of Reynolds(reminds me of James last year).

I dealt with the Reece Gaines game pretty well.  We were a team on the rise then, and UL was, IIRC, widely regarded as the better team at that point of the 02-03 season.  That game was a barnburner all the way and I can't recall any glaringly horrible things we did to lose that one.

But we gift wrapped this one for Pitino from 15 feet away.

Let's just say I don't think I'll ever get over Macho Grande.

Every year is a battle between Marquette and Louisville! I was mad the time they fouled your player shooting the 3 pointer at the end of the game. We gave that one to you! You guys are in the tourney. Good luck beat Nova

I forgot about Fitz travel.  What was interesting about that play was that he made up his mind that once he caught that he was to pass it to the corner.  When the defender jumped in the way, he was caught in the middle and took a few steps. Frustrating.
More frustrating was Matthews defense on the 3.  He completely lost focus and left Smith wide open.
I remember being at dinner with my wife after the Gaines game and shaking my head trying to figure out how we lost that one.  I'm still doing that with this game and its two days later.  We need to win tonight.
