...he will be back. Just signed a four-year extension:

I've heard from someone with ties to the program that Calhoun never really had a health issue, rather, he was asked to take a leave of absence.  Apparently Majok didn't like being yelled at (coached) and complained to the AD (also supposedly a lawyer was hired, which is why Jim was asked to step away temporarily).  This could explain the lack of unity and overall disinterest from the players even after JC returned to the sidelines.  Sounds like Majok should never have joined a BE team...perhaps the PAC-10 would have been a better fit.  I prefer how Buzz/MU handled dissent from Maymon over the way UConn handled this situation.

Whatever happened, their lack of interest was evident. They laid a major egg against St. John's. Granted, the Red Storm may have played hard, but UCONN essentially rolled over. It was a strange thing to see from a team coached by a surefire HOF coach. They haven't been themselves at all this year, and usually attitude reflects leadership.

That's why I think what Buzz has done this year is so great. It's awesome to watch a team that's tough as nails and has an attitude that doesn't waiver.

As far as lack of interest, I would hardly find it motivating as a player when the coach makes headlines for calling out the team's lack of effort in the media after every loss.

However, I'm figuring Calhoun is legendary.
