Actually, much of the press conference was odd.

Buzz spent a good deal of time talking about how he was criticized as a coach, not having players practice FT's (odd since MU choked down the stretch), etc, and seemed angry overall.  He seems very sensitive to what is said and written about him.

I didn't think it was that odd either. I think your anti-Buzz bias is clouding your judgement.

I just watched the press conference. It did get a little odd and it's very apparent he's reading these boards...or having somebody report to him what is written.

So...if you're reading this Buzz...PRN is in your corner!! Practicing FTs is a waste of practice time!! I love what you're doing at the end of games!

Dr. Blackheart

The call reversal was not made by the game refs--but by the auxiliary ref at the scorer's table--who happens to be the ND ref who blew his temper at Buzzer and T'ed him up.  Breeding.  Buzz thought it was not his call to reverse...and there is bad blood there.

That said, with the game on the line, it is better to get the call right--and they did.  Broeker's job is to deal with the politcs.

I think Buzz likes playing the underdog card...and thrives off of it...his post game press conference was fine, actually quite informative, entertaining, and enjoyable.  He wasn't whiney.  Just stating facts about some people questioning his coaching, that the team doesn't shoot free throws, etc....I'll take the candor, versus canned responses anyday.  Bottom line, as another team's fans and media said: "That guy sounds like a coach, and is what a coach should sound like."  (Seton Hall fan board/media).
"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."

I've mentioned a few times that I think he does read the boards.  Oh, and Buzz, for the record, I'm with you on FTs too.  In fact, it's just a vocal minority (read: chicos) that likes to harp on it.

Anyone know what Buzz was so angry about from the last question by Rosiak?

If I heard Todd say, "Talk about the play...?" I'm assuming he was talking about the DJO pass/shot controversy. That ref at the table wearing the black jacket with white stripes on sleeve did look familiar. Another poster pointed out that was the ref from the ND game.

There is NO reason that guy should be making calls from where he is sitting. If that's  the case that he reversed that call, that is absolutely assanine and he needs to turn his card in right away.

Nerd,

I'm sure MU and Buzz appreciate the brown-nosing and shilling you do for them.

I just watched it. He said, "I know, I know. Just leave it to me."

Can't imagine what it was about.

Who said, "I know, I know"?  Buzz or Broeker?

MUfan12

The fact that it was Breeding had everything to do with Buzz's reaction, that I am certain about.

The call was correct, but Breeding again had to make it about himself. Still some bad blood left from Saturday, and rightfully so. The guy is a hack and should not be reffing at this level.

Fullodds

Buzz was mad about the reversal---although the correct call it should not have happened. Buzz was mentioning not wanting to say anything because he did not want to get fined for bad-mouthing a ref, even if the ref was and is a complete ass-hat.

I think this is right.  After watching the video, I don't think Buzz was odd, he was, as he said "mad" and he's clearly mad at someone, not the Asst. AD,  perhaps a ref.  The answer may lie in the question Todd asked, which I could not hear.  If it's true Breeding is the guy from MU vs ND game, no question he's out to hose MU.  He was terrible in that game.

Broeker...as if he knew what Buzz was about to say. It wasn't a heated discussion or anything. Just looked like Broeker tried to get him before he went into the press conference

They said on 360 when it happened, that those calls are "reviewable to a point."  My guess is that the aux ref has every right to counsel the regular refs in that situation.  If Buzz doesn't like it, because of Saturday or not, it is completely irrelevant and he needs to learn to deal with it.

Believe me, you'll feel much better about your MUScoop experience.  ;)

From other lands: The reason Buzz was ticked, not from them reviewing the call/getting it right, but DJO was prepared to shoot until the "fourth" official, who cannot make rulings on the floor, gave his input and caused the change.  And by the way, it's the same d-bag who T'ed Buzz up against Notre Dame.

shaquilvaine

Dr. Blackheart, thanks for bringing clarity to this issue.  That makes complete sense!  I wasn't sure why Buzz was so pissed, but clearly there are still hard feelings from Saturday.  I still can't believe that turn of events... Burr gets hit with a pass to keep the ball inbounds, Zar called for a foul and then Buzz T'd up.  Way to quick of a trigger for that T!

BM1090

The call was reviewed and they correctly changed it. HOWEVER, The 4th official at the scorer's table made the call, and that is not allowed. The 4th official is only there to watch the shot clock and take over if one of the on-court officials is unable to continue

If that's the case, Breeding needs to be given the Mike Kitts treatment and sent home for the season.  This guy is out of control.

I would not be surprised if we have Breeding for the game tomorrow (or the next time we see him) that Buzz gets ejected. Not necessarily for any conduct on Buzz's part, but because of Breeding's out of control ego.
