in the postseason. Lucky to escape today while missing the front end. Can't pull that stuff tomrrow or any other game in March and hope to advance.
BTW, Gottlieb, while you may not like hearing it, is correct.

What did Gottleib say? And yeah Jimmy just had a terrible day today. wow

The announcers disgareed with you and Gottlieb. SJU stifled any penetration and played tenacious D

PuertoRicanNightmare

Despite his FT percentage and his attempts, I've thought for a while that Jimmy has been very gun shy around the rim. In the first half of the PItt game, he had 3 or 4 plays where he made hesitant moves around the rim, avoiding contact and ultimately missing short shots. I think he's still gun shy from early in the season.

Hayward is a stud, by the way.

Bling

Being down 4, HUGE three by Acker to put us down 1.  BIGGER threes by Hayward and Cuby.

It seems like whenever we're up, I'm always thinking, "How are we going to blow this lead?'  Even being up by 20 I'm still holding my breath.

Butler and Acker HAVE TO HIT THOSE FREE THROWS.  We have been punished in the past by teams taking advantage of our missed front end of 1 and 1.  We just got LUCKY today, because any other day they are going to BURY a shot and send it to OT or worse, win at the buzzer.

I hope this game serves as ANOTHER lesson for this team:  DON'T BLOW YOUR LEAD and MAKE YOUR FREE THROWS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope we can compete with Villanova tomorrow.  Isn't it hard to beat a team 3 times in one season or something?

PGsHeroes32

Anyone going to be nice enough to share what Gottlieb said?

I'm thankful that Zar made his.
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

Why is it that Marquette can hit 80% of the throws for 19 minutes and 0% for the last minute?  I'd chalk it up to tightening of the throat, but the Warriors don't seem to get frazzled on defense.  It is SOOOO in their heads right now.  My heart can't take much of this any more.

Wondering the same thing here, but apparently not...

mu89

Gottlieb said that he doesn't see a single NBA player on Marquette's team, but they all play hard which makes them good.

I'm not surprised.

WellsstreetWanderer

At the half, gottlieb, in an attempt to praise Marquette's tenacity said that this was a team without any NBA players.

Stuckin1977

We were flat out lucky to win today, not only did we miss the front end of 2 one-and-ones down the stretch, but we only had 2 offensive boards!  2!  Our only saving grace was that we shot 55% from beyond the arc, something we haven't done in about a month.

I'm just glad we got away with one today.  While I'd like to beat 'Nova and make some noise in the BE tourney, I care more that we're a 7 or 10 seed rather than an 8 or 9 seed in the real tourney

PGsHeroes32

Ok, thanks. I did hear him say that then. I thought he said something after the game that was negative from what the comments indicated. I agree with him to an extent, but we could have some NBA players, time will tell.

And he's right.

Besides missed free throws, we seem to give up a lot of offensive rebounds down the stretch of the games where we blew the lead.  Add those thins up, and you'll blow some leads.

When Mo stepped up to the line, was anyone else thinking, "if he makes the first FT and misses the second, they damn sure better foul SJ on the rebound with a 3 point lead and only 3+ seconds on the clock!"

Sorry. Probably shouldn't bring that up.  But I was definitely thinking it.

Let's not forget about St. Johns missing a couple big free throws too. Wasn't just MU or us choking the game away as some seem to think. Both teams missed in the last couple minutes.

After that miss, wasn't that Cubes's dagger three on that possesion?

HAHAHA!

Yup.  I was thinking "great, another foul up three debate is coming"

These circumstances would warrant an immediate foul.  ND, however.... ;)

i didn't look up his ft stats, but mo has to be one of our best/clutch/whoosh/count the ft/it's in the net/money/ free thrower-that said, did you notice that he took a little more time than usual and then kind of hitched as he let it fly...i knew he missed before it left his hands.  he was f'ing nervous man(and that's ok), either that or he had a big gas bubble sitting right at the anal sphincter

mikem91288

Whatever guys. I was obviously frustrated with missing the front end of two 1 and 1's, but we got the win, and we are moving on. Zar hit his free throws when it counted, and I know I cant count on DJO or Mo to do that. That's just what we have to deal with from here on out. Jimmy has been solid from the line most of the year. This team has what it takes to win close games, and I think they have a decent shot at going a few rounds because of just that. They know how to win, and won't panic like some of these teams do when they need a bucket down the stretch in the Big Dance. Go Buzz.

What?  Has the topic of fouling when up three points ever been discussed before?  Also, do we know if Buzz has them practicing free throws?
