Warriors face the Johnnies in NYC

Written by: noreply@blogger.com (Tim Blair)

In a rematch from last season's Big East Tournament second round, Marquette faces St. John's this afternoon in the World's Most Famous Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for (roughly) 1pm Marquette Standard Time on ESPN.

Yesterday St. John's routed UConn 73-51 to advance.   The Johnnies flat-out embarrassed the Huskies, and just about everybody took notice of the weak performance by Calhoun's bunch.  Sean Evans led St. John's with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Marquette and St. Johns meet today for the second time in recent weeks with MU topping the Johnnies 63-61 in overtime last month.  In last year's Big East Tournament MU throttled the hapless Johnnies 74-45.  The winner of today's game will advance to face the Villanova Wildcats.
