Howland has had some success, but he is a lot closer to Keno Davis than he is to Jim Calhoun, in the grand scheme of college basketball coaches. In my mind, at least.
3 Consecutive Final Fours makes him a hell of a lot closer to Calhoun than Keno Davis, are you serious?

Accepted. Maybe this year is showing that all 3 coaches are beyond their peak (Calhoun and Howland) or over-hyped (Davis). Certainly UCLA and UCONN have completely underachieved this year and Providence was expected to have a better showing than they have put out.

All that said, I remain a bit skeptical of Howland's success. I feel like it is a bit similar to Lavin's experience at UCLA: a new coach means rejuvenation, but how long does it last and does it satisfy the powers that be? Is this the beginning of UCLA's next slide down? Will Howland bounce back?

I know Ben Howland. I served with Ben Howland. Ben Howland is a friend of mine. You, Keno Davis, are no Ben Howland.

I don't know Jim Calhoun. I haven't served with Jim Calhoun. Jim Calhoun is not a friend of mine. Is Ben Howland close to Jim Calhoun?

As said above, he is much closer to Calhoun than Keno.  Howland has 3 consecutive Final Fours, Keno has....................

Fair enough. As said above, I remain skeptical of Howland's UCLA success, and don't think it will recover this year.

I'm off to bed. Good discussion.

You aren't really comparing Calhoun and Howland to Keno are you?

No....I'm comparing ridiculous internet message board posters that scream FIRE THE COACH every other game.  It's like reading some of the Badger posters that say OSU pays all their players or that Buzz cheats and gives handouts.  You're always going to find some posters on any message board that is calling for the coach to be fired, just the way it is.
