Very intriguing article that suggests big name schools should jump out of the NCAA and form their own Association.

Here's the summary of the article:

Take the 64 highest earning athletic programs and split them into four regional, 16-team superconferences. Play all the sports you've been playing, but keep the competition within those 64 programs and let the remaining NCAA teams play one another.

I actually like the idea for football. it's just not that great for basketball. Teams need to play cupcakes to prepare for the conference schedule. Then again, those cupcake games create virtually no revenue at all.

I think the cap to 'pay to play' is just under 60k.

I have a hard time believing Centenary, UMES, Grambling and S Dakota didn't get what they asked for. 3 of those 4 schools are traveling considerable distances to get beat.

I don't know the real numbers, but let's say the season ticket base is 10,000 x $30 average ticket price - that's $300,000  - I think MU probably makes out pretty well on those games.
