ESPN says Georgetown a "lock" make it make sense to me.

Currently Georgetown is behind both Marquette and Louisville both of whom espn has on the bubble.  What possible reason would they have to make Georgetown a lock for the tournament?  I will admit to not knowing what their RPI is or whom they have beaten besides Duke so someone please make it make sense to me.

They have a ton of goods wins (Butler, @Wash, UConn, @Pitt, Duke, Nova, @Louisville).

It doesn't make much sense based on conference record.  But there's a lot more to it than that.  They have an RPI of 14, and a SOS of #1.  In addition to Duke, who is #2 in the RPI, they've won 4 games against RPI Top 20 teams:  Temple(15), Butler(17), Pitt(9) and Villanova(7).  They are 6-6 against RPI Top 50 teams and 4-2 against teams 51-100.  They also don't have what you could call a bad loss statistically.  The worst team that beat them was Rutgers, at 151.

Just a diehard Hoya alum on here to wish you guys well vs. ND tomorrow. 

Will be pulling hard for you guys to destroy them in the manner they so richly deserve--and not just to serve obvious self-interest in a vastly-improved BET picture, but also because (1) while nearly as unintelligible to the uninitiated as our own Hoya Saxa seems to be, any school given to yelling some form of 'hoya' at opposing fans is cool with me and (2) with limited exceptions, Domers are inexplicably-arrogant tools who could stand some beating down at the hands of a fellow Jesuit school.

Good luck tomorrow and, except for whatever revenge-fest we may get to lay on you guys in the BET, the rest of the way out this season.

That reminds me of my favorite sports-related sign of all time: a wrung-out bulldog above the phrase "Wring Out A Hoya"...I've always loved that the term "Hoya" is shrouded in mystery.

... the actual meaning of the word "Ahoya" is open to a great deal of debate. One leading theory is that the call of "Ahoya" was often made by sailors on the Potomac river while passing Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., hence Georgetown getting its nickname of "Hoyas". This week's Weekend Watch has a truly funny story by Jay Will...

"Jay Williams

The night before I was to play North Carolina at Cameron Indoor Stadium for the first time, I made a quick run to Kroger's grocery store in Durham, N.C. As I started to make my way down the aisle, I happened to see a little girl dressed in a Carolina blue cheerleading outfit. She had to be around 8 or 9 years old and was eating a bag of chips.

As I approached the end of aisle, I couldn't help but notice that this young girl was staring at me with her mouth wide open. As I got closer, she would back away, one step at a time. I finally just stopped with the cart about 2 feet away from her. "Don't worry!" I said. "There's nothing to be afraid of." She burst out into a loud scream and started to cry hysterically. I walked over to her, bent down and said, "It's OK! It's OK! Where are your mother and father at?" She finally stopped crying, looked at me and said, "It's not OK! I hate Duke and I hate you Williams."

At that moment, I knew that this contentious rivalry hit all age demographics. No words can explain how deeply embedded this rivalry is within both communities. There is nothing a Duke fan would love more than to give the knockout punch to what has already been a difficult year for Roy Williams and UNC. Vice versa, there is nothing a UNC fan would love more than to spoil the senior night of Jordan Davidson, Lance Thomas, Brian Zoubek and Jon Scheyer.
