DJO Historically

While I will start off by saying that it is waaaaay too early to put too much stock into this, I can't help but get excited knowing that we will have DJO for the next two years.

This got me thinking, and got me number crunchin'. If DJO played 4 full seasons at Marquette, where would he end up on the all-time scoring list?

Optimistically assuming 5 more games, DJO will probably finish somewhere close to 450 points on the year. Jerel's season was cut short by injury and played in only 29 games and finished with 426.

Assuming DJO plays in 33 games each of the next two seasons, he would need 17ppg over that span to match Jerel's soph, junior and senior years.

Having said that, DJO would only have needed to match Jerel's 11ppg from freshman year to pass him up. This would not necessarily be a stretch from a talent standpoint, but if we put him on last years team it would be tough for him to find the minutes.

I know there are a lot of hypotheticals in here, but I think it puts DJO's season and age in the proper context. What we are getting out of him as a sophmore is remarkable, and I could not be happier that he is here.

I know I'm guilty of forgetting that he is only a sophomore and is going to be here for two more years.  I'm sure DJO would be okay with not hitting the top 5 in school scoring if he could get a deep run in the tourney... or two.
