Does a 9-9 Notre Dame get in the NCAA?

The Irish will be battling for their tourney lives Saturday. I would be thrilled to keep Digger's pawns out of the NCAA. It would be a sweet end to the regular season to send the irish packing back to South Bend. Go Warriors!!!

By virtue of their being the University of Notre Dame, and nothing more, they will receive a bid to the NCAAs.

I don't believe Florida has made it.  Cincinnati has not been in like 5 years, once a powerhouse program. On another note to you midwest guys, what happened to the Iowa program... ? They also suck.

They have a coach who doesnt recruit well, though is not a bad Xs and Os coach.  Beat Indiana soundly.  They also had a lot of players transfer this year who would have maybe made them more competitive.

They also might put in ND as the 8th BE team after Louisville.  They are hot right now, and there is really no shame in losing to us at the BC. 

One thing that hurts ND is that it would be hard for them to move out of 8th.  They will have to win their first game and then play a rested Cuse.  That is not a good matchup for anyone.  The game on Sat. is actually very big.

Chicos, shouldn't a self-proclaimed tournament historian who has been following it closely for a long time know whether or not Florida has made the tournament since their championship? Maybe run it by Jerry Palm, see what he has to say.

It's kind of funny that Notre Dame (9-8) is every prognosticators team du jour and then somebody like Lunardi claims we are on the bubble at 11-6.  The only team that Notre Dame has beaten that we haven't is Pittsurgh.  In contrast, look at their conferences losses: Louisville, St. Johns, Seton Hall, Rutgers, Cincy (split), UConn (split), Syracuse (by 13), Villanova (by 18).  Granted, they are on a streak, but two of those wins are against an up and down Georgetown and an inconsistent UConn.  What gives??

That would be wrong.  ND has beaten both Pitt and West virginia.  And two of MU's biggest wins are against "an up and down Georegetown and an inconsistent UConn."  Their two best wins are better than our two best wins...by a lot.  And seriously, MU is not on the bubble anymore.  Nobody has them there anymore, and we wouldn't even move back onto the bubble unless we lost our next to.  Lunardi is just saying if we lose out, we would be under consideration again, and not an automatic in.  he's not saying we wouldn't make it.  Frankly, I agree.  We lose out, I won't feel 100% comfortable with our position.

Why do people find it hard to understand that having a few "good wins" means a lot if you are on the bubble?  Beating Pitt and WV trumps any wins MU had this year.

IMO, MU is a lock for the NCAA even if they lose the final two games.

Agree to disagree.  West Virginia is a very good win, but I would put a Xavier win on par with a Pittsburgh win.  Further, good wins are important to bubble teams, but so are bad losses.  We have two - NC State and DePaul.  ND has lost to Loyola Marymount and, in conference, they have lost to SHU, Rutgers, Cincy, UConn, and St. Johns----all teams that will not be dancing.

+1. Please put the kibosh on bubble talk and kill the drama. Marquette is in and nothing is going to change that. We're finishing 5th in the BEast regardless of what happens on Saturday.

No.  It gives MU something to play for.  Nothing would be so sweet to our seniors as sending the domers packing off to the NIT during their last home game.  To me, any type of victory over notre lame could quite possibly be more satisfying than the trouncing of loserville the other day.  If it is a close game, we would keep their players, coaches, and tourney fans hopes alive only to be destroyed by our last second victory.  On the other hand, a blow out from the beginning of the game to the end is always satisfying over digger's douche bags.

ND is 5-5 for their last 10 with a home loss to St. Johns and losses to Rutgers among others.

MU is 9-1 with 5 straight road wins.

MU is not talked about much because we are in.  ND is a story because they're on the bubble.  Let's put them out of their misery as we have done with SFL, Lville, SH, etc.

For ND, the Seton Hall, St. John's and Louisville losses were all without Harangody, and 2 were on the road.  Now that they've learned to win without him, the commitee will absolutely take that into account.  I think they'll make it.  And to be clear, I think we will beat them on Saturday by about 10, and they will get in despite that loss with a win in the BEAST tourney.

I said I'm a tournament history buff, sorry if I asked the question....which I got right but needed confirmation.
